Tips for preparing for transportation

How to organize a removal?

Moving to a new apartment is among the most ordinary situations we can experience in our days. And even though we move at least a few times before settling for good, removals are still some of the most nerve-wracking happenings that can happen to us. Just working out the logistics of shipping everything you have from one place to another is an enormous job and when you add packing, unpacking and selecting the right company to help you with removal, it seems truly colossal as well as very stressful. Fortunately there are couple of things you can do to make the move as efficient as possible as well as considerably less nerve-wracking.

Packing as well as securing your belongings for the time of the removal

The most important thing you have to remember while preparing for the removal is that you need a clear plan that you’ll have to abide by during the move. It is best to make an inventory of every item you want shipped. Such a list can not only help you pack but also will allow you to check if all your belongings were safely shipped to your new home. Removal entails transporting a big amount of stuff, among them a lot of small items that can be easily misplaced when packed in a hurry – a list will ensure that you will remember to check if they all arrived to the place of destination safely. The next important step is tagging all the boxes as precisely as you are able to. One of the most common ways of tagging boxes is by category. So all the kitchen supplies and devices go into boxes labelled ‘kitchen’, all the pillows and personal items in the cardboards labelled ‘bedroom’ and so on. You’ll see how time-saving tagging can be once you start the unpacking. Don’t forget to label both sides and the top of the cardboard, to make sure that you (and the hauler) will be able to recognize which box goes where, no matter how they will be stacked in the transporting car.

Take special care when preparing to transport delicate goods. Wrap them in thick layers of textiles as well as bubble foil and tag them clearly (including a “This way up” sign). You also need to make sure that the hauler is aware that he’ll be transporting delicate cargo and which cardboards requires handling with care.

When you are shipping furniture, it’s important to take everything out of them before the removal as well as ship everything that was inside individually. Any unattached items in cupboards and cabinets can harm your furniture on the road. It’s also smart to secure all the furniture doors and drawers with some tape to make sure they won’t open during shipment. You may use ordinary Scotch tape for that. There is also a matter of loading the furniture into the shipping vehicle. Before attempting to move your furniture out of the house, be certain that they will fit via front doors, stairways and into the elevator (if your building has one). If they do, you’ll be able to transport them without disassembling (make sure that you have at least 1 person to assist you!). If they can’t, disassembling them is the only way to ship them safely. Be careful with that – be sure to have all the pins as well as bolts in one place for example in a Ziploc bag as well as that you’ve secured all the elements of the furniture properly. Dismantling furniture is also smart when you want to use the transporting car to the maximum, as disassembled furniture will be much easier to stack efficiently.

When packing smaller things, like magazines, tableware, cosmetics and much more, boxes will be the smartest choice. It’s probable that you will need m
