Dominic was super friendly, impressive and very helpful in the transport of my 16 boxes from Dublin to Aachen. Very well organized and fairly priced. From planning, pick up, transport and drop off, everything went smooth. We can highly recommend him.
Prompt and flexible service. Although there was a delay in the delivery, Ben has been quick to communicate and he kept me informed. Zero stress, recommended
Had a move of 20 m3 furniture, packages and bicycles from nothern germany to Greece. Transport service was very good. Litt delay due to boarder queues. Mr.Vasileios works thoroughly and is very kind. For future transports we would ask Mr.Vasileios again.
Changing house is one of the most ordinary situations we can encounter in our life. And even though we move at least a few times in our lifetime, removals are still among the most nerve-wracking situations that can happen to us. Just figuring out the organization of shipping all your belongings from one place to another is an enormous task and with packing, unpacking and choosing the best company to assist you with removal, it seems really huge as well as quite stressful. Luckily there are couple of things you can do to make the move as efficient as can be as well as significantly less stressful.
Packing and securing your belongings for shipment
The most important tip you have to remember while packing is that you need a precise plan that you will stick to during the move. It is best to make a list of all the things you need to ship. It will not only make the packing easier but also will allow you to make sure that all your belongings were successfully shipped to your new home. Removal entails shipping a great deal of various items, among them a lot of little items that are easily forgettable when packed in a hurry – an inventory will ensure that you will remember to make sure they all arrived to your new home safely. The next important step is tagging all the boxes as clearly as you are able to. One of the more useful methods of labelling cardboards is by category. So all the kitchen accessories and appliances should be placed into cardboards labelled ‘kitchen’, all the duvets and personal items in the cardboards labelled ‘bedroom’ etc. You’ll see how time-saving tagging can be once you start the unpacking. Don’t forget to label both sides and the top of the cardboard, to make sure that you (and the transport provider) will be able to recognize which cardboard goes where, no matter how they will be placed inside the transporting vehicle.
Take special care when preparing to transport fragile things. Enclose them in thick layers of fabric or bubble foil and then tag them in an easily visible place (together with a “This way up” label). You also need to make sure that the hauler knows that he’ll be shipping fragile load as well as which cardboards have to be handled with caution.
When it comes to furniture, it’s important to empty them prior to the removal and transport all the things inside individually. Any loose items inside cupboards and drawers could harm your furniture on the road. It’s also smart to secure all the furniture doors as well as drawers using tape to make sure they won’t open during transportation. You can use regular Scotch tape for that. Another issue is the matter of putting the furniture inside the shipping vehicle. Before trying to move your furniture from the house, make sure that they will fit via front doors, stairways or into the elevator (if your old apartment has one). If so, you’ll be able to transport them without disassembling (find at least one person to assist you!). If they cannot, disassembling them is the sole method to transport them safely. Be cautious with that – be sure to have all the nails and bolts in one place like in a Ziploc bag and that you’ve secured all the parts of the furniture properly. Dismantling furniture is also convenient whenever you need to use the shipping car to the maximum, because disassembled furniture will be much easier to stack efficiently.
When securing smaller things, such as magazines, tableware, cosmetics and much more, cardboards will be the smartest choice. It’s very possible that you won’t have enough boxes to fit al … l your belongings – but there is a couple of methods to acquire additional boxes. For example you can get new boxes in most of the home-improvement or construction stores. But since you’ll probably need quite a few cardboards, you may choose a more affordable method. Visit nearby stores and see if they have any cardboards they don’t need any more. Shops tend to possess a lot of unneeded cardboards and most of the time they are happy to give them away.
An alternative to boxes will be using bags, especially for transporting textiles and little stuff. There is a much bigger chance that you will find the bags at home. As mentioned, bags will be a sufficient alternative when packing clothes, magazines and small items, but unfortunately they have a couple of disadvantages. Bags are much less durable than cardboards and susceptible to breaking, if you choose to use them for storing items with edges (like books, cutlery etc.). Also – placing bags on top of each other is much more difficult than stacking boxes in similar fashion.
Among the most difficult items to transport are houseplants. It is obviously safest to move them by yourself, but if something prevents you from doing that, make sure that the transport provider knows what he will be transporting. A day prior to the removal water the plants thoroughly and allow the water to sink in. It’s important that the plants are watered enough to endure the transportation, but also to allow them to take in what they can prior to placing them in a container (you must pour off the excess water gathered on the saucer, so that it won’t accidentally leak through the box).
Searching for suitable transport provider
Of course, aside from properly securing your items for the removal, it is also crucial to select a suitable transport provider. Which factors should you acknowledge when selecting the right person? Cost of the service, certainly, is important, especially on lengthy, international routes, but that’s just one of the things to consider. When transporting everything you have you have to in the first place consider if your things will be properly protected in the hands of the hauler. When listing your delivery on a transport marketplace, like Clicktrans, you not only can ask prospective transport providers every question you require an answer to before deciding upon a hauler but moreover you can read reviews left by former customers on each hauler’s profile page. Nothing is more believable than reviews left by someone who’s already used the services of the hauler you are considering.
The cost of removal
Price of removal is really difficult to asses, because it changes, sometimes drastically because of how much the cargo weights and how big it is or how long the route is. If you plan to ship many fragile things, the price is likely to be higher. It’s similar for removals between countries – routes within one country are normally more economical than shipping your load across borders.
