Tips for preparing for transportation

How to organize a removal?

Moving to a new apartment is one of the most ordinary situations we can encounter in our life. And despite the fact we change the place we live in averagely a few times in our lifetime, removals are still among the most trying activities that can happen to us. Just working out the logistics of moving everything you have from one place to another is quite a job and when you add packing, unpacking and selecting the best transport provider to assist you with removal, it seems truly colossal as well as very stressful. Luckily there are couple of things you can do to make the move as simple as possible as well as considerably less nerve-wracking.

Packing as well as securing your items for transportation

The most important tip you have to remember while packing is that you should create a clear list of steps that you will abide by during the move. It is best to create a list of every item you need to ship. It will not only help you pack but also will allow you to check if all your belongings were successfully shipped to its place of destination. Removal calls for transporting a great deal of stuff, including a big amount of small items that can be easily misplaced under the pressure of time – a list will help you check if they all made it to your new home safely. Another important step is tagging all the cardboards as precisely as you can. One of the more common ways of labelling cardboards is by the room name. For example all the kitchen supplies as well as appliances should be placed into boxes tagged ‘kitchen’, all the pillows as well as jewellery in the box labelled ‘bedroom’ etc. You’ll see how much time labelling can save once you get to the unpacking part. Don’t forget to tag both sides and the top of the box, so that you (and the hauler) will be able to recognize which box goes where, no matter how they will be stacked inside the shipping vehicle.

Take special care with delicate things. Wrap them in protective layers of fabric or bubble wrap and then tag them in an easily visible place (including a “This way up” label). You should also make sure that the transport provider knows that he’ll be transporting delicate goods as well as which boxes have to be handled with caution.

When you are shipping furniture, it’s imperative to empty them before the removal and transport all the things inside individually. Any unattached things in closets or drawers can damage your furniture during shipment. It’s also good to secure all the furniture doors as well as drawers with some tape to make sure they cannot open during shipment. You may use regular Scotch tape for that. Another issue is the matter of loading the furniture into the transporting vehicle. Before attempting to move your furniture out of the apartment, make sure that they will fit through the front doors, stairways and into the elevator (if your old apartment has one). If they do, you’ll be able to transport them without dismantling (be sure to have at least one person to help you!). If they cannot, disassembling them is the only way to ship them without harm. Be cautious with dismantling – be sure to have all the pins and screws in one place like in a Ziploc bag as well as that you’ve secured delicate elements of the furniture sufficiently. Disassembling furniture is also smart whenever you need to use the shipping car to the maximum, as dismantled furniture will take a lot less place.

When securing minor things, like books, tableware, cosmetics and much more, cardboards will be the most obvious choice. It’s most likely that you won’t ha
