Tips for preparing for transportation

How to transport garden equipment

Garden equipment shipment is one of the most common types of transportation that we might need through our life. Some garden equipment – mostly smaller equipment (for example rakes, scissors and much more) – you may safely transport in your car booth or even on the backseat. Things become a bit more difficult when you need to transport some garden supplies larger in size and heavyness, for example a lawnmower.

Shipping a mower seems to be a pretty easy job. If you have a vehicle that’s spacious enough, you probably are considering transporting it on your own. Shipping a mower by yourself is obviously possible but it requires some knowledge as well as preparation. First of all, you have to empty the mower from all the fluids. Flooding spark plugs with fuel can lead to serious damage. Even when you empty the mower from all the fluids, it is best to ship a lawnmower upright. Other than that it is crucial to transport a lawnmower in a cardboard that is as fitted to its size as it can. Ideally, you should ship it in its initial packaging (it is closely fitted to its size), however if you don’t have it anymore, any container could work, assuming its size is right. The main thing is that when you placed the lawnmower inside a cardboard, there should be little to none free space left. Use foam chips or textiles to fill the empty spaces (it will help to absorb any shocks during shipment).

There is garden equipment that is much too big to transport it on your own. Therefore whenever you have to ship e.g. a tractor mower, you’ll require help from an expert hauler – someone who has both knowledge and a car fitted to harmlessly transport your garden equipment. Using a transport company can be quite expensive, but fortunately it’s not the only way you can get an expert transport provider. To get professional shipment in acceptable price, try using a transport marketplace, like Clicktrans.

You may publish your delivery for free and wait for quotes from transport providers from different places of Europe. If any of the transport providers happen to go on similar route to the route you need, your load can become a partial load, which can help to lower the cost of the shipment considerably.  Additionally using a transport marketplace to find a transport provider allows you to reach directly the person who is going to be transporting your garden equipment. Thanks to that you may discuss all the specifics of the job as well as make sure, that your delivery will be shipped safely.

When it comes to shipping garden equipment, protection against atmospheric conditions is of less importance as garden equipment is clearly meant for working outside. What is the most important whenever shipping garden machinery, is making sure that the load is shielded from mechanical damages. If your garden machinery is too large to place it in a container, you can use some Styrofoam, bubble wrap or even pieces of cloths to wrap the most vulnerable parts like handles and every element that protrudes from the load.

When choosing the right hauler it is always smart to check out feedback given by previous customers. Also when you plan to transport some larger, expensive garden equipment it is good to find out if the hauler you are considering has carrier liability insurance. Thanks to that if anything happens to your cargo on the road, you will receive some compensation.

Is there anything else you have to bear in mind when transporting garden equipment? If your equipment is powered by electricity, remember to let it rest for couple of ho
