Tips for preparing for transportation

Household appliances transportation

Household devices is a truly large category of products, which affects what's the smartest way to secure them for transportation as well as the safest method of shipment them. We may roughly divide household devices into two subcategories, both with its own safest way of shipment – minor household appliances as well as big household devices. In the first subcategory you’ll place all the appliances that can safely fit into a regular car, like: microwaves, blenders, juice makers, waffle makers, boiling pots as well as many more. These things you may effortlessly transport inside your own vehicle – either on one of the seats or in the trunk. They also tend to be less prone to damages during shipment than the big household devices. In that subgroup you will find devices like: freezers, dishwashers, washing machines, tumble-driers and so on. Almost every one of them may be successfully shipped in a passenger car which is why it has to be entrusted to professionals.

No matter which household device you need to ship, when it comes to securing your devices for the time of transportation, there are a couple of guidelines that are universal for every appliance. First of all, it is safest to transport appliances in their original cardboards. They are best fitted to the dimensions of the device which can help to decrease the threat of some shocks during transportation damaging your appliances. To be extra safe, you can fill all the empty spaces with Styrofoam or bubble foil. With small household devices, following these rules will most likely be enough to guarantee their safe journey. But when it comes to large household appliances there are a few additional rules to have in mind.

Ahead of beginning to prepare your appliances for the shipment, you should remove all the removable elements and ship them separately. That concerns all the shelves as well as containers (from freezers, mostly) and baskets (from dishwashers). During shipment, they would be especially unprotected against jolts, which might break either them or the device itself. That is why it is safer to take them out of the device, enclose them in some bubble wrap as well as transport individually.

The next step is to secure the doors as well as all the cables and tubing. Make sure that your appliance is dry, because any leaking on the road might damage it irreversibly. If you are planning to ship a washing machine, it is safest to secure the drum, so that it cannot move during shipment. The drum is the most fragile element of the washing machine but an important one – harming the drum usually means that you will need a new washing machine. The next step is, as stated above, securing the doors. Even if you are convinced that the doors won’t open while on the road, you should still put some tape on it to be certain it really cannot open during transportation. There is a number of circumstances on the road that can require a hauler to unexpectedly turn or brake and you have to be certain that the devices stay closed even then. Doors that haven’t been properly secured are easily breakable as the hinges are often quite fragile. After the doors are secured, you must think about cords as well as water lines. They should stay attached to the appliance (especially if you don’t have any expert knowledge about household appliances assembly), but you might want to bind them together (for example with some cord) to prevent them from getting tangled.

After the doors as well as cords of your device are secured, the next step is to protect your cargo from mechanical d
