I would highly recommend this transportation service. They were quick, reliable, and affordable. In addition, the communication was exceptional, and I hope we can do more work with Shoreway Logistics in the coming future. Thanks again

Tips for preparing for transportation

Furniture transportation

If you are moving to a new home or redecorating your place there is a good chance you’ll look for furniture shipping at some point. Regardless of whether it’s furniture you already posses or recently bought furniture straight from shop, furniture shipping is always quite problematic. Naturally the kind of furniture in need of shipment matters for example shelves and night tables could fit inside your car, but a bookcase or a dinner table could become an issue. If you have a van at your disposal, you may attempt to ship the cargo on your own, however in most cases you will require help from a transport provider. If you are searching for a reliable service with a reasonable price, try using a transport marketplace, for example Clicktrans.

Preparing furniture for transportation

When planning to transport your furniture, there are rules you might like to follow, while preparing them for transportation. Firstly, don’t forget to remove all the contents from the furniture – even if the items inside seem light. Jolts as well as vibrations are almost impossible to avoid on the road and all of the items roaming uncontrollably within your furniture may damage it. Also furniture without any content will be easier to load.

Disassemble what you can – if your furniture can be dismantled without damage and transported in parts, it will be the safest way to ship it. A bookcase in pieces will also be much easier to place inside of a van. The major downside of such a solution is that the disassembling can be time-consuming, as improperly disassembled furniture can be hard or even impossible to reassemble after transportation. Other than that – it’s good to be extra cautious when shipping small parts (screws etc.). It’s best to ship them together, for example in a Ziploc bag.

Some types of furniture (for example antiques) cannot be dismantled and have to be shipped in one piece. What’s the best way to ship them securely? Chance that you have a box suitable to fit an armchair is not high, however you can still secure your cargo for the time of transportation. While securing furniture for the time of shipment bubble wrap is of significant value. Enclose all the delicate elements and all the corners with bubble foil to prevent your cargo from breaking if anything crashes into it on the road. If you have no bubble foil, you can try using cardboard to protect the corners.

If your furniture has some extra delicate elements (for example made of glass) you must be especially careful during shipment. When you can, it’s best to transport them separately, enclosed in protective layers of cloth or bubble wrap (every glass element should be transported like that). If it’s a part of furniture that can’t be disassembled, wrap it in extra layers of bubble wrap. Don’t forget to tell the hauler that he’s shipping fragile cargo.

Like we’ve mentioned before, usually you will need assistance with transporting furniture. While choosing a transport provider it’s good to find out if he offers assistance with loading and unloading. Don’t forget to specify from which floor they should be taken and to which floor they should be moved – and if there is an elevator available.
