Had a move of 20 m3 furniture, packages and bicycles from nothern germany to Greece. Transport service was very good. Litt delay due to boarder queues. Mr.Vasileios works thoroughly and is very kind. For future transports we would ask Mr.Vasileios again.

Changing house is one of the most common situations we can encounter in our days. And despite the fact we change the place we live in at least a few times in our lifetime, removals are still some of the most trying happenings that can happen to us. Just working out the organization of shipping everything you have from one place to another is an enormous task and when you add packing, unpacking and selecting the best transport provider to help you with removal, it becomes truly colossal as well as quite stressful. Luckily there are a few ways to make the move as simple as possible and significantly less nerve-wracking.
Packing and securing your belongings for the time of the removal
One crucial thing you should remember while packing is that you should create a coherent plan that you will stick to during the move. It is smart to create a list of every item you want transported. It will not only help you pack but also will allow you to make sure that all of your things were successfully shipped to its place of destination. Removal entails transporting a big amount of stuff, including a lot of small items that can be easily forgettable under the pressure of time – an inventory will ensure that you will remember to check if they all arrived to your new home safely. Another crucial step is tagging all the cardboards as clearly as you are able to. One of the more useful methods of labelling boxes is by the room name. For example all the kitchen supplies as well as appliances go into boxes tagged ‘kitchen’, all the pillows and blankets in the cardboards labelled ‘bedroom’ etc. You’ll see how much time labelling can save once you start the unpacking. Remember to label both sides and the top of the box, so that you (and the hauler) will be able to recognize which box goes where, no matter how they will be placed inside the transporting car.
Take special care when preparing to transport delicate items. Enclose them in protective layers of textiles or bubble wrap and then tag them in an easily visible place (together with a “This way up” label). You also need to make sure that the transport provider is aware that he’ll be shipping delicate cargo and which cardboards requires handling with caution.
When you want to transport furniture, it’s important to take everything out of them before the removal as well as transport everything that was inside separately. Any loose things in cupboards and cabinets can harm your furniture on the road. Additionally it is good to secure all the furniture doors as well as drawers with some tape to make sure they cannot open during transportation. You can use ordinary Scotch tape for that. Another issue is the matter of putting the furniture inside the shipping car. Ahead of attempting to move your furniture out of the apartment, make sure that you’ll be able to transport them via front doors, stairways or into the elevator (if your old apartment has one). If so, you’ll be able to transport them without dismantling (be sure to have at least 1 person to help you!). If they can’t, dismantling them is the only method to transport them without harm. Be careful with that – be sure to store all the nails and screws gathered like in a Ziploc bag and that you’ve secured delicate elements of the furniture properly. Disassembling furniture is also convenient whenever you want to use the shipping car to the maximum, as dismantled furniture will be much easier to stack efficiently.
When packing minor things, like books, tableware, decorations and so on, cardboards will be the smart … est choice. It’s probable that you will need more boxes than you have – but there is a couple of ways to acquire additional boxes. Firstly you may acquire new cardboards in most of the home-improvement and construction stores. However since you’ll most likely require lots of boxes, you may decide upon a more affordable method. Try visiting your local stores and see if they have any cardboards they no longer need. Shops usually have a lot of unneeded boxes and they are usually happy to give them away.
An alternative to boxes would be using bags, especially for transporting clothes and small items. There is a much bigger chance that you have some bags already at home. As mentioned, bags will be an adequate choice when packing clothes, magazines and small items, but unfortunately they have a couple of disadvantages. Bags are much less durable than cardboards and susceptible to tearing, if you decide to use them for transporting items with edges (like books, cutlery and such). Also – placing bags on top of each other is much more difficult than stacking cardboards in similar fashion.
Among the most tricky things to transport are houseplants. It is usually best to move them by yourself, but if for some reason you cannot do that, make sure that the hauler is aware of what he will be transporting. One day prior to the removal water the plants thoroughly and allow the water to sink in. It’s important that the plants are watered enough to suffer through the shipment, but it’s equally important to let them absorb what they can prior to placing them in a box (you have to pour off the extra water from the saucer, to make sure it won’t soak through the box).
Choosing the right hauler
Certainly, aside from suitably securing your items for the shipment, it is also crucial to choose a suitable transport provider. What factors must you acknowledge while selecting the right person? Cost of the service, certainly, is important, especially on longer, international routes, but it’s only one of the factors. Whenever shipping all your belongings you need to firstly consider if your cargo will be safe in the hands of the hauler. When listing your delivery on a transport marketplace, such as Clicktrans, you not only may ask possible haulers every question you require an answer to before making your decision about a transport provider but also you may read feedback given by former customers on each hauler’s profile page. Not much is more reliable than feedback given by someone who’s already hired the transport provider you are considering.
The cost of removal
Price of removal is pretty hard to estimate, as it varies considerably due to how much the cargo weights and how big it is or the route length. If you are transporting many fragile items, the cost is probable to be higher. It’s similar for international removals – domestic routes are usually cheaper than moving your items across borders.
