Tips for preparing for transportation

How to organize a removal?

Changing house is one of the most common happenings we can come across in our life. And even though we change the place we live in at least a few times in our lifetime, removals are still among the most trying happenings that can happen to us. Just figuring out the organization of transporting all your belongings from one place to another is quite a task and when you add packing, unpacking as well as selecting the suitable company to help you with removal, it becomes truly huge as well as very stressful. Fortunately there are couple of things you can do to make the move as efficient as possible as well as considerably less nerve-wracking.

Packing as well as securing your items for the time of the removal

One crucial thing you need to remember while packing is that you should create a coherent list of steps that you’ll have to stick to through the whole process. It is smart to make a list of all the things you need to transport. Such a list can not only help you pack but additionally will allow you to check if all of your things were safely shipped to your new home. Removal entails transporting a big amount of stuff, including a big amount of small items that can be easily forgettable when packed in a hurry – an inventory will help you check if they all arrived to the place of destination safely. Another crucial step is labelling all the cardboards as precisely as you are able to. One of the most useful ways of labelling boxes is by the room name. For example all the kitchen supplies and appliances should be placed into boxes labelled ‘kitchen’, all the pillows as well as blankets in the box tagged ‘bedroom’ and so on. You’ll be surprised how much time labelling can save once you start the unpacking. Remember to label both sides and the top of the box, so that you (as well as the hauler) can be sure which cardboard goes where, no matter how they will be stacked inside the transporting car.

Be extra careful when preparing to transport fragile goods. Wrap them in thick layers of fabric as well as bubble wrap and then label them clearly (including a “This way up” label). You also need to ensure that the hauler is aware that he’ll be transporting delicate goods and which cardboards have to be handled with caution.

When you are shipping furniture, it’s crucial to take everything out of them prior to the removal and ship all the things inside separately. Any unattached items inside cupboards and cabinets could harm your furniture on the road. It’s also good to secure all the furniture doors and drawers with some tape so that they won’t open during shipment. You may use regular Scotch tape for that. Another issue is the matter of loading the furniture into the transporting car. Before trying to move your furniture from the apartment, be certain that you’ll be able to transport them through the front doors, stairways or into the elevator (if your building has one). If they do, you can transport them without disassembling (make sure that you have at least one person to assist you!). If they can’t, dismantling them is the sole way to transport them safely. Be cautious with that – be sure to have all the pins and bolts gathered like in a Ziploc bag and that you’ve secured all the parts of the furniture sufficiently. Disassembling furniture is also a good idea when you want to fill the transporting car to the maximum, because disassembled furniture will be much easier to stack efficiently.

Whenever packing smaller things, like magazines, tableware, cosmetics and much more, boxes will be the most effici
