Live animals are a special type of shipment. While in the case of other things it is enough to ensure that items are secured during transport, animals have much more requirements. Transportation of animals should be carried out safely and meet the needs of dogs, cats, reptiles and rodents.
When is it necessary to transport animals? First of all, when we buy or sell an animal and its final home is in another city or country. It is also common to adopt dogs or cats from remote shelters or foundations, and there is no possibility of personal collection. Fortunately, many carriers specialise in transporting animals and adapt their vehicles to it. Transporting a dog or cat requires appropriate security. The animal must be in a cage from which it cannot escape when the vehicle is parked. The employee of the transport company must also ensure that the animal has access to water, and on longer routes also to food. Some pet carriers take a special caretaker on the route, whose task is to look after the dogs or cats in transit. Therefore, a huge responsibility rests on the carrier: dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets and other animals are sentient beings that require care.
When we want to arrange the transportation of an animal, the species, weight and detailed description of the animal will be important to the carrier. The transported animal must be fit for transportation - therefore it cannot be sick or injured. If you are going to transport a cat, dog or ferret, you should take care of rabies vaccination and implantation of an identification microchip.
