Motorcycles & Scooters

Motorbikes and scooters are not only worth a lot, but also not easy to protect while being shipped. However, it turns out that the majority depends on the way we do it and how much prior experience with transport we have. It is doable to transport a motorcycle or a scooter without difficulties, no doubts about that. The way you will secure it depends on the method of shipment. Thanks to some valuable tips you will prevent any scratches, and dents that are likely to happen when a scooter or motorbike is not properly secured.

When you are transporting the motorcycle on a trailer you will need four strapping belts to strap it down. If you use a trailer which is dedicated for motorbikes or scooters, it already is equipped with the rail that stabilises the motorbike. In this situation you will need only two belts. It's neccessary to use a closed hook at the ends of the belts, rather than an open one. The closed hook should not open up accidentaly during the transport.

It is also worth checking the sharp edges or elements that may possibly rip the belts and make it impossible to safely transport your motorcycle. It's also reasonable to transport a motorcycle inside a truck. The protection and equipment needed to keep the motorbike standing safely in one place will not vary too much from other ways mentioned before. One thing that should be taken under consideration will be the installation of the side pads to protect the insides of the truck and other objects that will be transported next to the motorcycle.

There are also platforms that attached to a truck or van, can help you transport your motorbike not occupying the entire space in the van.

Check with the shipping company if the equipment they provide will be sufficient to carry your motorbike. For example, using a wooden stand for lifting your motorcycle and loading it in a truck could pose danger to people providing the service or pedestrians passing by, but could also cause serious damage to your motorbike/motorcycle.

When posting your request on Clicktrans you will surely receive  lots of great quotes from shipping providers who have their account on Clicktrans.

Many of these companies can organise the transport, so that they can use the full capacity of their trucks. Thanks to that, transport gets cheaper and more environmentally friendly with decreasing number of ”empty running”.
