Transporting a caravan

Transporting a caravan is often correlated with great deal of problems, but in fact it is much easier than we realize. If you plan on transporting a caravan by yourself, do not forget to check if your driving license enables you to do it.

Types of caravans

A Conventional caravan – as can be deduced from the name, this is the most popular kind of caravan. This type has four sturdy walls as well as a full height rood. It might range in dimensions as well as in the number of rooms, however generally it ensures pretty convenient travelling conditions. Conventional caravans come in one or 2 axles.

2) Tent trailer – is a type of caravan that is a great choice in case you want to lower the costs. Tent trailer may be towed by most of the cars , moreover it often includes most of the elementary equipment, such as hot water or a fridge. It gives you large amount of living space but offers much less wind resistance than a conventional caravan.

C Pop-top caravans -  they are very much alike conventional caravans with the exception of a expendable roof, which can expand the living space. Pop-top caravans, similar to a tent trailer does not offer much wind resistance.

4) Pop-out caravans – this kind of caravan has all the advantages of a pop-top caravan as well as added expandable area on the ends of the vehicle, which creates a convienient spot to place additional beds, in case you are in need of them. Pop-out caravans are the most popular among large families.

5) Camper trailers – they offer less living space than the types described before, but because of the most needed basic equipment (shower, fridge and so on) it is a comfortable and economical way of travelling.

F The fifth-wheeler – this is the largest kind of caravan. It provides with very big amount of living space, so that whole families can travel comfortably. Because of its considerable size,  the fifth-wheeler must be towed by a larger vehicle instead of a regular car (such as a pickup truck).

Sometimes it is impossible to ship a caravan by yourself – it hinges on whether you have right amount of time to cover needed distance and whether the caravan itself is capable of covering the distance.

If you choose to find a shipping company to move your caravan, double-check if you know the precise measurements of the caravan. Also confirm that its insurance hasn’t expired. In addition, inform the hauler about state of the caravan – like whether brakes work properly.

When hiring a transport provider to transport your caravan you do not have to worry about your driving license or crossing the borders  - all the procedures apply to the transport provider. Furthermore, transport companies frequently have product liability insurance, which ensures you a compensation, should any damage is done to the caravan on the road.

Cost of transporting a caravan

Cost of transporting a caravan depends on its dimensions and weight (as it is with almost every type of cargo}. Other than that , the cost is also defined by the condition of the vehicle – if it is undamaged, you are likely to get cheaper price.
