Transporting a caravan

Transporting a caravan is often correlated with a lot of problems, but actually it is much less complex than we realize. If you plan on shipping a caravan on your own, remember to make sure that your driving license allows you to do that.

Kinds of caravans

1) Conventional caravan – as can be deduced from the name, this is the most common type of caravan. It has 4 solid walls as well as a full height rood. It can differ in length as well as in the number of rooms, still generally it provides quite comfortable travelling conditions. Conventional caravans come in one or two axles.

2) Tent trailer – is a type of caravan that is a great alternative in case you want to lower the costs. Tent trailer may be towed by almost any car , moreover it usually includes most of the elementary equipment, such as shower or a fridge. Tent trailer gives you considerable amount of living space but offers much less wind resistance than a conventional caravan.

C Pop-top caravans -  this kind is similar to conventional caravans with the exception of a lifting roof, that helps expanding the living space. Pop-top caravans, much like a tent trailer provides very little wind resistance.

4) Pop-out caravans – this kind of caravan has all the features of a pop-top caravan and extra pop-out section on the ends of the vehicle, which creates a convienient spot to place additional beds, in case you need them. Pop-out caravans are the most popular among large families.

E Camper trailers – they offer not as much living space as the types described before, but because they provide with the most needed basic equipment (shower, hot water and so on) camper trailers are considered to be a convenient as well as affordable manner of travelling.

6) The fifth-wheeler – this is the largest kind of caravan. It provides with considerable amount of living space, which allows whole families to travel in comfort. Because of its large size,  the fifth-wheeler requires a larger vehicle to tow it (for example a pickup truck).

Sometimes it is impossible to ship a caravan by yourself – such decision hinges on whether you have right amount of time to drive required distance and whether the caravan itself is functional.

In case you want to find a transport provider to transport your caravan, make sure you know the specific measurements of the caravan. Also confirm that its insurance is up-to-date. Futhermore, inform the transport provider about condition of the caravan – like whether brakes work properly.

When hiring a transport provider to transport your caravan you do not need to worry about your driving license or speed limits  - all the requirements apply to the transport provider. Furthermore, shipping companies frequently invest in product liability insurance, which will ensure you a compensation, if anything happens with the caravan during shipment.

Cost of transporting a caravan

Price of transporting a caravan depends on its dimensions and weight (as it is with almost every type of loads}. Additionally, the cost is also defined by the condition of the vehicle – if it is undamaged, you will likely get cheaper price.
