Glassware

When it comes to transporting glass, one of the crucial things to think about is securing the load beforehand. When transporting fragile goods simple cardboard box will not do. You have to fill the areas between your load and walls of the package with materials that will prevent movement of the glass during shipment. Good way to guarantee that is to fill the box with Styrofoam or spongy materials that will prevent possible tremors and protect your glass from fracturing. Additionally you could cover your cargo in bubble wrap, particularly all the elements that are thin and extra fragile. Fasten the bubble wrap with Scotch tape just to be certain it won’t loosen during shipment. After wrapping, you need to fil all of the empty space left in the box – with some spongy material or even pieces of cardboard.

If you need to move large pieces of glassware (like mirrors or window glass) you ought to not only shield it from shattering, but also from scratching. You need to surround the glass with thick layer of bubble foil, secure it with Scotch tape and place it in a box. Remember to mention on top of the cardboard box that the box is fragile. You could also use pre-made stamps for glassware loads.

Small glassware (like goblets or bottles} can be wrapped in old newspapers, paper or even clothes. Next phase is to deposit them in a container so that they won't touch during shipment. In similar manner you can secure porcelain and crystals. When dealing with large glass items (like chandeliers) it is best to add an extra layer of soft materials, like sponge or clothes.

Price of glassware transport varies depending on weight and dimensions of the load, route lenght and delivery dates. Another price-defining aspect is whether or not you need professional packing materials and help securing the cargo.
