Motorcycles & Scooters

Motorcycles and scooters are not only expensive, but also hard to protect when shipped. However, it turns out that most of it depends on the way we do it and how much prior experience with transport we have. It is doable to transport a motorcycle or a scooter without problems, no doubts about that. The way you will secure it depends on the type of transportation. Owing to some helpful tricks you could prevent any damages, and dents that may happen if a scooter or motorbike is not properly cared for.

When you are shipping your motorbike on a trailer you will need 4 belts to strap it down. If you use a trailer which is designed for motorcycles or scooters, it already is equipped with the rail that stabilises the motorcycle. In this case you will need only two belts. It's crucial to use a closed hook at the ends of the belts, rather than an open one. The closed hook will not open up accidentaly during the transport.

It is also worth looking at the sharp angles or items that may possibly rip the belts and make the safe transport impossible. It's also reasonable to transport a motorbike inside a truck. The protection and equipment needed to keep the motorcycle resting safely in one place will not vary too much from other ways mentioned before. One thing that should be taken under consideration will be the installation of the side pads to secure the insides of the truck and other objects that might be transported next to the motorcycle.

There are also platforms that attached to a truck or van, can let you ship your motorcycle without occupying the whole space in the truck.

Remember to check with the shipping company if the equipment they provide will suffice to transport your motorcycle. For example, using a wooden stand for lifting your motorbike and loading it in a truck could be dangerous to people providing the service or pedestrians passing by, but could also cause severe damage to your motorbike/motorcycle.

When posting your request on Clicktrans you will receive  plenty of great quotes from transport companies who have their account on Clicktrans.

Many of these companies can organise the transport, so that they can use the full capacity of their cars. Thanks to that, shipment gets cheaper and more environmentally friendly with less and less „empty runs”.
