Motorcycles & Scooters

Motorcycles and mopeds are not only expensive, but also hard to protect when shipped. Though, it turns out that most of it depends on how we do it and how much previous experience with shipping we have. It is doable to ship a motorcycle or a moped without difficulties, no doubts about that. The way it will be secured depends on the method of transportation. Owing to some useful tricks you can prevent any scratches, and dents that could happen if a scooter or motorcycle is not properly secured.

When you are shipping the motorcycle on a trailer you will need four strapping belts to strap it down. If you use a trailer which is created for motorcycles or scooters, it already has been equipped with the rail that stabilises the motorbike. In this case you will need only two strapping belts. It is neccessary to use a closed hook at the ends of the belts, rather than an open one. The closed hook should not open up by accident during the transport.

It is also worth looking at the sharp edges or elements that may possibly rip the belts and hinder your efforts. It's also reasonable to transport a motorcycle in a van. The protection and equipment obligatory to keep the motorcycle installed safely in one place will not differ too much from other methods mentioned above. One thing to be considered is the installation of the side pads to protect the insides of the van and other objects that might be transported just next to the motorcycle.

There are also platforms that attached to a truck or van, can let you ship your motorbike not occupying the entire space in the van.

Check with the transport company if the equipment they provide will suffice to ship your motorbike. For instance, using a wooden stand for lifting your motorcycle and loading it in a van could be dangerous to people providing the service or pedestrians passing by, but could also cause serious damage to your motorbike/motorcycle.

When listing your motorcycle on Clicktrans you can receive  lots of great quotes from transport companies registered on Clicktrans.

Many of these companies can adjust the transport, so that they can utilise the full capacity of their vans. Thanks to that, the service gets cheaper and more environmentally friendly with less and less ”empty running”.
