Glassware

When shipping glassware, the crucial task is securing the load before transport. When transporting fragile goods simple cardboard box will not ensure safe transport. You have to fill the gaps between your glassware and walls of the package with materials that can help to avoid movement of the glass throughout shipment. Good way to do that is to fill the box with Styrofoam or spongy materials that will stop potential tremors and therefore protect your fragile load from breaking. Furthermore you could cover your cargo with bubble foil, particularly all the parts that are thin and prone to damage. Secure the bubble foil with Scotch tape just to be certain the bubble wrap will not loosen during shipment. When you finished wrapping, you should pack all of the empty space left in the box – with Styrofoam or even newspapers.

If you need to transport big elements of glassware (like mirrors or glass shelves) you should not only secure it from shattering, but also from fracturing. You must surround the glass with thick layer of bubble wrap, fasten it with adhesive tape and store it in a cardboard box. Do not forget to mention on top of the box that the container contains glassware. You may also use pre-made stamps for glassware loads.

Smaller glassware (like goblets or bottles} could be secured by old newspapers, paper or even clothes. Next step is to deposit them in a box so that they will not knock against each other during shipment. In similar manner you can ship porcelain and crystals. When transporting big glassware products (like chandeliers) it is good to use an extra layer of soft materials, like sponge or clothes.

Price of glass transport depends on weight and dimensions of the cargo, distance as well as delivery dates. Other price-defining aspect is whether or not you require using professional packing materials and aid securing the load.
