Transporting a caravan

Transporting a caravan is usually correlated with great deal of problems, but in fact it is much less complex than we realize. If you plan on shipping a caravan by yourself, remember to check if your driving license allows you to do that.

Kinds of caravans

1) Conventional caravan – as the name suggests, this is the most popular kind of caravan. This type has 4 solid walls and a full height rood. A conventional caravan can vary in length and in the number of rooms, however in most cases it guarantees quite satisfying travelling conditions. Conventional caravans may have one or 2 axles.

B Tent trailer – this type of caravan is a fine choice in case you might want to lower the costs. Tent trailer may be towed by almost any car , moreover it usually contains most of the elementary equipment, such as hot water or a fridge. It provide you considerable amount of living space however offers much less wind resistance than a conventional caravan.

3) Pop-top caravans -  this kind is very much alike conventional caravans with the addition of a expendable roof, that helps to increase the living space. Pop-top caravans, much like a tent trailer does not offer much wind resistance.

4) Pop-out caravans – this kind of caravan is equipped with all the advantages of a pop-top caravan and extra expandable area on the ends of the van, which is a convienient area to place additional beds, should you need them. Pop-out caravans are especially favored by large families.

E Camper trailers – this type of caravan offers not as much living space as most of the types described before, but because of all the basic equipment (shower, fridge and so on) camper trailers are considered to be a convenient and economical way of travelling.

F The fifth-wheeler – this is the biggest kind of caravan. It offers very big amount of living space, which allows whole families to travel in comfort. Due to its large size,  the fifth-wheeler must be towed by a larger vehicle instead of a regular car (for example a pickup truck).

Sometimes it is impossible to transport a caravan on your own – such decision depends on whether you have enough time to travel needed distance and whether the caravan itself is capable of covering the distance.

In case you want to find a shipping provider to transport your caravan, verify if you know the precise dimensions of the caravan. Additionally check if its insurance is up-to-date. In addition, warn the hauler about condition of the caravan – like whether brakes work properly.

When relying on a transport provider to move your caravan you don’t have to think about your driving license or crossing the borders  - all the requirements apply to the transport provider. Furthermore, shipping companies often have product liability insurance, which ensures you a compensation, if any damage is done to the caravan during shipment.

Price of moving a caravan

Price of transporting a caravan depends on its dimensions and weight (as it is withmost types of loads}. Additionally, the price is also defined by the condition of the vehicle – if it is able to drive on its own, you are likely to get cheaper price.
