Motorcycles & Scooters

Motorbikes and scooters are not only worth a lot, but also hard to secure when transported. Although, it turns out that most of it depends on how we do it and how much prior experience with transport we gained. It is possible to transport a motorbike or a moped without hussle, no doubts about that. The way you will secure it depends on the type of shipment. Owing to some useful tricks you can avoid any scratches, and dents that could happen when a scooter or motorcycle is not properly cared for.

When you are transporting the motorcycle using a trailer you will need 4 strapping belts to strap it down. If you use a trailer that is designed for motorbikes or scooters, it already has been equipped with the rail that stabilises the motorcycle. In this case you will need only 2 belts. It's important to use a closed hook at the ends of the belts, rather than an open one. The closed hook will not open up by accident during the transport.

It is also worth checking the sharp angles or objects that may possibly rip the belts and make the safe transport impossible. It's also doable to transport a motorbike in a van. The protection and equipment obligatory to keep the motorcycle mounted safely in one place will not vary too much from other methods mentioned before. One thing that should be taken under consideration will be the installation of the side pads to prevent any damage to the insides of the truck and other objects that might be transported just next to the motorbike.

There are also platforms that attached to a truck or van, can let you transport your motorbike without occupying the entire space in the truck.

Check with the transport company if the equipment they provide will suffice to transport your motorbike. For example, using a wooden platform for lifting your scooter and loading it in a truck could pose danger to people providing the service or pedestrians passing by, but could also cause severe damage to your motorbike/motorcycle.

When posting an offer on Clicktrans you can receive  multiple great quotes from shipping companies who have their account on Clicktrans.

Many of these providers can arrange the transport, so that they can utilise the full capacity of their vans. Thanks to that, shipment gets cheaper and more eco-friendly with decreasing number of ”empty running”.
