Kart transportation

At first glance shipping a kart looks pretty easy as well as straightforward. In reality though such action needs a bit of preparing and often also special accessories to be done efficiently. There are a few main ways of transporting a kart: you can use a special trailer, a delivery truck or a regular car (if it’s able to fit a kart). When transporting a go-kart it is essential to fasten it safely so that it won’t damage in transportation and also to be certain it will not become a danger to others on the road. A kart may be lighter than for example a quad or a motorbike, but it’s still over 100 kg and if it happens to fall from the moving trailer, it can pose a real threat on the road.

When you are transporting a kart on a trailer, you should have some good quality tie down belts so that you can attach your vehicle to the floor of the transporting trailer. It must not move while on the road. Don’t forget to have some additional belts along in case one of the straps tears on the road and you have no choice but to change it. If you are transporting a go-kart on a dedicated trailer, it’s a good idea to enclose the kart in some material or even a blanket to shield it against atmospheric conditions because prolonged exposure to rain or even dust can cause real damage to your kart, in some cases permanently. If you ship your kart by a delivery van, it is smart to obtain some bumpers to cushion possible shocks on the road.

Don’t forget to always drain all the liquids from the kart before it gets on the road – that means gasoline but also oil and so on. This will help you to ensure you will be able to easily avert possible leaking if your kart tips over during emergency braking.

When you don’t have a car that will be able to safely transport a kart or you can’t ship it on your own, you can always find a hauler. Every hauler will easily fit a kart in their transporting vehicles. As a bonus you’ll get a chance to gain some expert knowledge, e.g. how to secure a kart properly, which you’ll be able to use with next shipments.
