Kart transportation

Seemingly shipping a go-kart seems pretty easy and effortless. Usually though it requires a bit of preparing and often also professional accessories to be done safely. There is more than one way of shipping a go-kart: you can use a special trailer, a semi-trailer or a regular car (if it’s big enough to fit a go-kart). When shipping a kart it is important to fasten it safely to make sure it won’t damage in shipment but also to be certain it will not become a danger to other people on the road. A go-kart may be lighter than a quad and a motorbike, however it’s still over 100 kg so if it happens to fall from the trailer while on the move, it can pose a real threat to other vehicles.

To safely transport a kart on a trailer, you need some durable tie down belts to fasten your vehicle to the shipping vehicle. It must not move during transportation. Remember to take some extra belts along in case some belt tears during shipment and you have to change it. When you are transporting a kart on a dedicated trailer, it’s a good idea to enclose the kart in some tarpaulin or even a blanket to shield it against atmospheric conditions because prolonged exposure to rain or even dust can seriously damage your go-kart, in some cases permanently. If you are transporting your go-kart in a passenger car, it’s a good idea to use some bumpers to absorb possible tremors on the road.

Don’t forget to always drain all the fluids from the kart before shipment – that goes for fuel but also oil and so on. This way you will be able to effortlessly avoid any leaking in case your go-kart tips over during sudden turn.

If you don’t have a vehicle that will be able to safely ship a kart or you can’t ship it by yourself, you can always hire a hauler. Most of them will be able to easily find room for a go-kart in their transporting vehicles. As a bonus you’ll get access to some professional know-how, for example on what is the best way to secure a go-kart properly, which you can then use with next shipments.
