Motorcycles & Scooters

Motorbikes and mopeds are not only worth a lot, but also not easy to protect while being shipped. Although, it turns out that everything depends on the way we do it and how much previous experience with transport we had gathered. It is feasible to transport a motorcycle or a moped without troubles, undoubtedly. The way it will be secured depends on the mean of shipment. Thanks to some valuable advice you can prevent any scratches, and dents that are likely to happen if a moped or motorbike is not properly secured.

When you are shipping the motorbike on a trailer you will need four strapping belts to strap it down. If you use a trailer that is designed for motorbikes or scooters, it already has been equipped with the rail that stabilises the motorbike. In this case you will need only 2 strapping belts. It's important to use a closed hook at the ends of the belts, rather than an open one. The closed hook will not open up by accident during the shipment.

It is also worth looking at the sharp edges or parts that may possibly rip the belts and make the safe transport impossible. It's also feasible to transport a motorbike in a van. The protection and equipment required to keep the motorcycle standing safely in one place will not differ too much from other methods mentioned above. One thing that should be taken under consideration will be the installation of the side pads to prevent any damage to the insides of the van and other objects that will be transported next to the motorbike.

There are also platforms that attached to a truck or van, can help you ship your motorbike not occupying the whole space in the car.

Check with the transport company if the equipment they provide will be sufficient to transport your motorbike. For instance, using a wooden platform for lifting your scooter and loading it in a van could pose danger to people providing the service or pedestrians passing by, but could also cause serious damage to your motorbike/motorcycle.

When listing your motorcycle on Clicktrans you can get  a lot of great offers from transport companies who have their account on Clicktrans.

Many of these companies can organise the transport, so that they can use the full capacity of their trucks. Thanks to that, the service gets cheaper and more eco-friendly with decreasing number of „empty runs”.
