Glassware

When transporting glassware, one of the crucial tasks is securing the cargo before transport. In this case simple container will not be sufficient. You have to pack the space between your cargo and walls of the package with substances that will prevent any jolting of the glass throughout shipment. One of the ways to do that is to fill the box with Styrofoam or spongy materials that will block potential jolting and therefore protect your fragile cargo from damaging. Furthermore you can cover your glassware with bubble foil, particularly all the elements that are delicate and prone to damage. Secure the bubble foil with Scotch tape just to be sure the bubble wrap won’t loosen during transport. After wrapping, you need to fil all of the empty space left in the box – with Styrofoam or even pieces of cardboard.

If you want to ship big pieces of glassware (like mirrors or glass shelves) you have to not only protect it from shattering, but also from scratching. You should surround the glass with substantial sheet of bubble wrap, close it with adhesive tape and store it in a container. Remember to write on top of the box that the container should be handled with care. You may also use pre-made stamps for delicate loads.

Smaller glassware (like goblets or bottles} could be wrapped in outdated magazines, paper or even towels. Next phase is to store them in a box so that they will not knock against each other during transport. The same way you can transport porcelain and crystals. When transporting bigger glass items (like chandeliers) it is good to add an extra layer of soft materials, e.g. sponge or clothes.

Price of glass transport hinge on weight and dimensions of the load, route lenght and delivery days. Other price-defining factor is whether or not you need professional packing materials and help securing the load.
