Fragile goods

Delicate items are one of the hardest categories of items to ship. In this category you will discover items created from glass (for example mirrors, glass decorations and so on), items from breakable substances and fashioned in unusual shapes (e.g. furniture with protruding elements, that absorb a big part of the impact when something bumps into it) and really just about every item that’s delicate while in transportation (e.g. most of the electronic devices can be thought of as delicate goods). On many occasions we encounter the situation where the product itself is not viewed as a delicate cargo, however it has some delicate parts (such as glass insets or plush upholstery) and because of them must be considered a delicate load during transportation.

Fragile cargos must be shipped with great caution as they tend to be prone to damage. Usually it is harder to come across a proffessional shipment for fragile goods and one have to be very careful while reading terms and conditions of your arrangement with the hauler. Transport providers often consider fragile load to be a non-standard cargo and request an extra fee.

When you plan to ship fragile cargo, it is all about packaging. You have to find a box that will be as close to the size of the cargo as can be (ideally its original container). All of the space left between the shipped item and the box makes the cargo sensitive to vibrations during shipment, which can lead to breaking. To fill remaining empty space you can use sponges, packing paper or Styrofoam.
