Motorcycles & Scooters

Motorbikes and scooters are not only worth a lot, but also difficult to secure when shipped. However, it turns out that most of it depends on the way we do it and how much prior experience with transport we have gathered. It is doable to ship a motorbike or a scooter without hussle, no doubts about that. The way it will be secured depends on the type of shipment. Owing to some useful tricks you can prevent any damages, and dents that often happen if a scooter or motorcycle is not properly secured.

When you are transporting the motorcycle on a trailer you will need 4 strapping belts to strap it down. If you use a trailer that is designed for motorcycles or scooters, it already is equipped with the rail that stabilises the motorcycle. In this situation you will need only two belts. It's essential to use a closed hook at the ends of the belts, rather than an open one. The closed hook will not open up by accident during the transport.

It is also worth looking at the sharp angles or parts that may possibly cut the belts and make the safe transport impossible. It's also possible to transport a motorcycle in a van. The protection and equipment needed to keep the motorbike standing safely in one place will not differ too much from other methods mentioned above. One thing that should be taken under consideration is installing the side pads to secure the insides of the truck and other objects that may be transported just next to the motorbike.

There are also platforms that attached to a car or van, can let you ship your motorbike without occupying the entire space in the truck.

Remember to check with the transport company if the equipment they provide will be enough to ship your motorbike. For example, using a wooden stand for lifting your motorbike and loading it in a van could be dangerous to people providing the service or pedestrians passing by, but could also cause serious damage to your motorbike/motorcycle.

When putting an offer on Clicktrans you will receive  a lot of great quotes from transport providers who have their account on Clicktrans.

Many of these companies can organise the transport, so that they can use the full capacity of their vans. Thanks to that, transport gets cheaper and more environmentally friendly with decreasing number of ”empty running”.
