Transporting a caravan

Transporting a caravan is often correlated with great deal of difficulties, but in fact it is much less complex than we realize. If you want to ship a caravan by yourself, don’t forget to make sure that your driving license enables you to do it.

Kinds of caravans

1) Conventional caravan – as the name suggests, this is the most popular type of caravan. It has four sturdy walls as well as a full height rood. It can vary in length and in the number of rooms, however in general it ensures quite convenient travelling environment. Conventional caravans may have 1 or 2 axles.

B Tent trailer – this type of caravan is a fine choice if you might want to lower the costs. It can be towed by most of the cars , moreover it usually contains most of the elementary equipment, like hot water and a fridge. It gives you large amount of living space but offers very little wind resistance.

3) Pop-top caravans -  this type is similar to conventional caravans with the exception of a lifting roof, that can expand the living space. Pop-top caravans, much like a tent trailer does not offer much wind resistance.

D Pop-out caravans – this kind of caravan has all the advantages of a pop-top caravan and extra expandable area on the ends of the van, which creates a convienient spot to place extra beds, should you need them. Pop-out caravans are especially popular among large families.

E Camper trailers – this type of caravan offers not as much living space as most of the types described above, but because they provide with the most needed basic equipment (shower, hot water and so on) camper trailers are considered to be a convenient and affordable way of travelling.

F The fifth-wheeler – this is the largest kind of caravan. It offers considerable amount of living space, which allows whole families to travel pleasantly. Because of its considerable size,  the fifth-wheeler requires a larger vehicle to tow it (such as a pickup truck).

It is not always possible to transport a caravan on your own – such decision hinges on whether you have enough time to travel necessary route and whether the caravan itself is functional.

If you want to find a transport provider to transport your caravan, double-check if you know the specific measurements of the caravan. Also confirm that its insurance hasn’t expired. Futhermore, instruct the hauler about state of the caravan – e.g. whether brakes work properly.

When hiring a transport provider to transport your caravan you do not need to worry about your driving license or speed limits  - all the regulations apply to the transport provider. Moreover, shipping providers frequently have product liability insurance, which ensures you a compensation, should anything happens with the caravan during shipment.

Price of moving a caravan

Price of transporting a caravan depends on its dimensions and weight (similar to almost every type of cargo}. Additionally, the cost is also defined by the state of the vehicle – if it is able to drive on its own, you are likely to pay less.
