Transporting a caravan

Transporting a caravan is often associated with great deal of problems, but actually it is much less complex than we realize. If you want to ship a caravan on your own, do not forget to make sure that your driving license enables you to do it.

Kinds of caravans

1) Conventional caravan – as the name suggests, this is the most common kind of caravan. This type has 4 solid walls and a full height rood. Mentioned type can vary in length as well as in the amount of rooms, but in most cases it provides quite convenient travelling conditions. Conventional caravans come in 1 or two axles.

B Tent trailer – is a type of caravan that is a great choice in case you might want to lower the costs. E Camper trailers – they offer not as much living space as most of the types described above, but because of all the basic equipment (shower, hot water and so on) it is a convenient as well as budget manner of travelling. 

6) The fifth-wheeler – this is the largest type of caravan. It provides with considerable amount of living space, so that whole families can travel in comfort. Because of its large size,  the fifth-wheeler requires a larger vehicle to tow it (for example a pickup truck).

It is not always possible to transport a caravan by yourself – it hinges on whether you have right amount of time to drive needed route and whether the caravan itself is capable of travelling such distance.

In case you decide to hire a transport company to move your caravan, verify if you have the specific measurements of the caravan. Also confirm that its insurance hasn’t expired. Moreover, inform the hauler about state of the caravan – like whether brakes are fully functional.
