Transporting a caravan

Moving a caravan is often correlated with great deal of problems, but in fact it is much less difficult than we realize. If you want to transport a caravan on your own, do not forget to make sure that your driving license enables you to do it.

Kinds of caravans

A Conventional caravan – as can be deduced from the name, this is the most usual kind of caravan. This type has four strong walls and a full height rood. Mentioned type might range in length as well as in the amount of rooms, however in general it guarantees pretty comfortable travelling environment. Conventional caravans come in 1 or two axles.

B Tent trailer – is a type of caravan that is a fine alternative if you want to decrease the costs. Tent trailer may be towed by most of the cars and usually contains most of the elementary equipment, such as shower or a fridge. It provide you large living space but offers very little wind resistance.

C Pop-top caravans -  this type is similar to conventional caravans with the exception of a lifting roof, which helps expanding the living space. Pop-top caravans, similar to a tent trailer does not offer much wind resistance.

4) Pop-out caravans – this kind of caravan is equipped with all the advantages of a pop-top caravan and extra pop-out area on the ends of the vehicle, which is a perfect spot to fit additional beds, in case you are in need of them. Pop-out caravans are the most favored by big families.

E Camper trailers – they offer less living space than the types described before, but thanks to having all the elementary equipment (shower, hot water and so on) camper trailers are considered to be a convenient as well as affordable way of travelling.

6) The fifth-wheeler – this is the biggest type of caravan. It offers very big amount of living space, so that whole families can travel in comfort. Because of its large size,  the fifth-wheeler requires a larger vehicle to tow it (for example a pickup truck).

It is not always possible to transport a caravan on your own – it hinges on whether you have right amount of time to drive necessary route and whether the caravan itself is functional.

If you decide to hire a transport provider to transport your caravan, make sure you give them the specific dimensions of the caravan. Additionally make sure that its insurance hasn’t expired. In addition, instruct the transport provider about condition of the caravan – for example whether brakes are fully functional.

When hiring a transport provider to move your caravan you do not need to worry about your driving license or crossing the borders  - all the requirements apply to the transport provider. Moreover, shipping providers frequently invest in product liability insurance, which will ensure you a compensation, should anything happens with the caravan during transportation.

Price of shipping a caravan

Price of moving a caravan hinges on its dimensions and weight (similar to almost every type of cargo}. Other than that , the price is also defined by the state of the vehicle – if it is fully functional, you are likely to pay less.
