Transporting a caravan

Moving a caravan is often correlated with great deal of difficulties, but in fact it is much easier than it seems. If you want to ship a caravan on your own, remember to check if your driving license allows you to do that.

Kinds of caravans

1) Conventional caravan – as the name suggests, this is the most usual type of caravan. It has four sturdy walls as well as a full height rood. Mentioned type can differ in length as well as in the amount of rooms, however in most cases it ensures pretty comfortable travelling conditions. Conventional caravans may have one or two axles.

B Tent trailer – this type of caravan is a good choice in case you want to decrease the costs. Tent trailer may be towed by almost any car , moreover it usually contains most of the elementary equipment, like hot water or a fridge. Tent trailer gives you considerable amount of living space but offers very little wind resistance.

3) Pop-top caravans -  they are similar to conventional caravans with the addition of a lifting roof, which can expand the living space. Pop-top caravans, much like a tent trailer does not offer much wind resistance.

D Pop-out caravans – this type of caravan has all the features of a pop-top caravan as well as extra pop-out section on the foot and the head of the van, which is a perfect area to place extra beds, should you need them. Pop-out caravans are especially popular among large families.

E Camper trailers – they offer not as much living space as the types mentioned above, but thanks to having the most needed basic equipment (shower, hot water and so on) it is a convenient and economical manner of travelling.

6) The fifth-wheeler – this is the biggest kind of caravan. It offers very big amount of living space, so that whole families can travel comfortably. Due to its large size,  the fifth-wheeler requires a larger vehicle to tow it (like a pickup truck).

It is not always possible to transport a caravan on your own – it hinges on whether you have enough time to drive needed distance and whether the caravan itself is capable of travelling such distance.

In case you decide to find a shipping company to move your caravan, confirm you give them the precise dimensions of the caravan. Additionally make sure that its insurance is up-to-date. Futhermore, inform the hauler about state of the caravan – like whether brakes work properly.

When hiring a transport provider to ship your caravan you do not have to think about your driving license or crossing the borders  - all the procedures apply to the transport provider. Furthermore, transport companies frequently invest in product liability insurance, which ensures you a compensation, should anything happens with the caravan during shipment.

Price of transporting a caravan

Cost of moving a caravan depends on its dimensions and weight (as it is with almost every type of cargo}. Additionally, the cost is also affected by the condition of the caravan – if it is undamaged, you are likely to pay less.
