Transporting a caravan

Shipping a caravan is often correlated with a lot of difficulties, but in fact it is much easier than it seems. If you want to transport a caravan on your own, remember to check if your driving license allows you to do that.

Kinds of caravans

1) Conventional caravan – as can be deduced from the name, this is the most common type of caravan. It has 4 solid walls as well as a full height rood. It might range in length as well as in the number of rooms, however in most cases it ensures pretty convenient travelling environment. Conventional caravans may have 1 or two axles.

B Tent trailer – is a type of caravan that is a great choice if you want to decrease the costs. Tent trailer may be towed by most of the cars , moreover it often contains the most basic equipment, such as shower and a fridge. Tent trailer gives you considerable amount of living space but offers much less wind resistance than a conventional caravan.

C Pop-top caravans -  this type is similar to conventional caravans with the exception of a lifting roof, which can increase the living space. Pop-top caravans, similar to a tent trailer provides very little wind resistance.

4) Pop-out caravans – this kind of caravan is equipped with all the advantages of a pop-top caravan and added pop-out section on the ends of the vehicle, which is a convienient area to place additional beds, should you need them. Pop-out caravans are especially favored by large families.

5) Camper trailers – they offer not as much living space as most of the types mentioned before, but because of all the basic equipment (shower, fridge and so on) it is a convenient and budget manner of travelling.

F The fifth-wheeler – this is the biggest kind of caravan. It offers very big amount of living space, which allows whole families to travel in comfort. Due to its considerable size,  the fifth-wheeler requires a larger vehicle to tow it (for example a pickup truck).

Sometimes it is impossible to ship a caravan on your own – it hinges on whether you have right amount of time to travel needed distance and whether the caravan itself is working.

In case you choose to hire a transport provider to move your caravan, make sure you know the specific measurements of the caravan. Additionally make sure that its insurance hasn’t expired. Futhermore, instruct the transport provider about condition of the caravan – e.g. whether lights work properly.

When relying on a transport provider to ship your caravan you don’t have to worry about your driving license or speed limits  - all the regulations concern the transport provider. Furthermore, transport companies frequently invest in product liability insurance, which will ensure you a compensation, if any damage is done to the caravan during transportation.

Price of shipping a caravan

Cost of shipping a caravan depends on its dimensions and weight (as it is withmost types of cargo}. Additionally, the price is also defined by the state of the vehicle – if it is undamaged, you will likely get cheaper price.
