Kart transportation

At first glance shipping a kart seems rather easy and uncomplicated. In reality though it needs some preparation and often also special accessories to be done safely. There is more than one way of transporting a kart: you may use a dedicated trailer, a semi-trailer or a passenger car (if it’s big enough to fit a kart). With transporting a go-kart it is crucial to secure it safely so that it won’t become damaged in transportation and also so that it won’t pose a threat to other people on the road. A go-kart is smaller than for example a quad and a motorbike, but it still weights over 100 kg and if it happens to fall from the trailer while on the move, it can cause a serious accident to other vehicles.

If you are shipping a kart on a trailer, you should have some good quality tie down belts so that you can fasten your vehicle to the shipping vehicle. It must not move while on the road. Remember to have some additional belts along in case some belt tears on the road and you have no choice but to use a new one. If you are transporting a go-kart on a dedicated trailer, it’s good to cover the kart with some sheet or even a blanket to protect it against atmospheric conditions as prolonged exposure to rain or even dust can cause real damage to your go-kart, sometimes for good. When you ship your kart by a passenger car, it’s a good idea to use some bumpers to absorb any tremors on the road.

Remember you should always pump out all the fluids from the kart before it gets on the road – that means fuel but also water ect.. This will help you to ensure you will be able to effortlessly avert possible leakage in case your kart falls over during sudden turn.

If you do not own a vehicle that will be able to safely ship a go-kart or you can’t ship it by yourself, it’s a smart move to hire a transport provider. Every hauler will be able to easily find room for a kart in their transporting vehicles. You’ll also get a chance to gain some expert knowledge, like how to secure a go-kart safely, which you’ll be able to use next time you need transportation.
