Less Than Truckload

Less than Truckload (LTL) is an effective mode of transportation of a small commodity that is not in need of a big area and may be usually stored on pallets. Less that Truckload benefits unused surface in the truck by a consolidation of more than one independent freightages. This method is economical because people can share the shipment cost with the others who also are planning to take a bit of the cargo space available in the car. LTL freightages usually weigh between 151 and 20,000 lb.

Cars specialised in the LTL weigh more than 3.5 tons and need to be congruous with the specifications set in a given region. There are many types of vehicles that may serve in the LTL, but they should be always correctly adjusted to the kind of the cargos that are going to be moved.

The financial aspect of the shipping is calculated depending on a few factors. Firstly, size and mass of the commodity. The person ordering need to also give a transporter an information about the way the product is packed. You should also mention what you expect to be covered by the service – is it only the transport or does it also include loading and unloading.

When you realise that the cargo space available via the less than truckload is not enough to ship your cargo, you can use another option – full truck load (FTL).
