Tips for preparing for transportation

Household appliances transportation

Household devices is a truly wide section of things, and that influences what's the safest means to shield them for shipment and also the best way to transport them. We can roughly group household appliances into two subgroups, each with its own smartest way of transportation – minor household devices as well as big household devices. In the first subcategory you will find all the appliances that could safely fit into a passenger car, like: microwaves, blenders, food processors, waffle makers, boiling pots and so on. These things you may safely transport inside your own car – no matter if it’s on one of the seats or in the trunk. They also tend to be less prone to damages during transportation than the big household appliances. In that subsection you will find machines like: freezers, washers, washing machines, tumble-driers and so on. Almost every one of them can be successfully shipped in a passenger car which is why it has to be entrusted to experts.

Regardless of which household appliances you need to transport, when you want to prepare your load for the time of shipment, there are a couple of guidelines that can be used with every device. Firstly, it is safest to transport appliances in their original boxes. These boxes are best fitted to the dimensions of the appliance which will decrease the threat of any jolts on the road breaking your devices. To be very sure, you can fill all the empty spaces with foam chips or bubble foil. When it comes to minor household appliances, this will most likely be enough to guarantee their painless journey. But when it comes to large household devices there are a couple additional things to remember.

Before you even begin to secure your appliances for the transportation, you should remove all the removable elements and transport them separately. That goes for all the shelves and containers (in freezers, mostly) and racks (in dishwashers). During transportation, they would be especially exposed to jolts, which might break either them or the device itself. That is why it is better to remove them from the device, wrap them in some bubble foil as well as ship separately.

The next step is to secure the doors and all the cords and water lines. Check if your appliance is dry, as any leaking on the road might damage it for good. If you are planning to ship a washing machine, it is safest to secure the drum, so that it cannot move on the road. The drum is the most fragile part of the washing machine and also a crucial one – damaging the drum may mean that you will need a new washing machine. The next step is, as stated above, securing the doors. Regardless of whether you are or are not certain that the doors will stay closed during shipment, you should still put some tape on it to make sure it really won’t open during transportation. There is a number of circumstances during shipment that can require a transport provider to suddenly turn or brake and you have to be positive that the devices stay closed even then. Doors that haven’t been suitably secured are prone to damages because the hinges are rarely very durable. After the doors are closed safely, you have to consider cords as well as water lines. They should stay attached to the appliance (particularly if you have no expert knowledge about assembling household devices), however you might want to bind them together (for example with some cord) to keep them from tangling.

When the doors and cables of your device are secured, the next step is to protect your load from mechanical damages. That entails mainly securing the
