At first, I hesitated to hire a new company, but John was helpful, kind, and with communication skills. My sofas arrived from Italy as planned, I will definitely hire John for future deliveries.

Tips for preparing for transportation

Furniture transportation

If you are moving to a new home or sprucing your place up by adding some new items it’s possible you’ll look for furniture shipping at some point. Whether we’re talking about your old furniture on removal or recently bought furniture straight from shop, furniture shipping is always quite problematic. Of course it depends on what kind of furniture needs transportation for example chairs as well as night tables could fit inside regular car, but a bookcase or a dinner table could be problematic to ship. When you posses a van, you can transport the furniture on your own, however if you don’t, you’ll need help from a transport provider. If you are searching for a trustworthy service that will also be affordable, consider trying a transport marketplace, like Clicktrans.

Securing furniture for shipment

When planning to transport your furniture, there are a couple of steps you might like to follow, when it comes to preparing them for transportation. Firstly, don’t forget to empty all the furniture – even if things inside are light. Some jolts and vibrations are inevitable during transportation and every extra item roaming uncontrollably inside your furniture might damage it. Not to mention that furniture without any content will be lighter and therefore easier to ship.

Dismantle every part that you can – if your furniture may be dismantled without damage and transported in pieces, that’s the best way to ship it. A bookcase in parts is also much easier to fit inside of a van. The main downside of such a solution is that the disassembling can be time-consuming, as unskilfully disassembled furniture might be difficult or even impossible to put back together after transportation. Also – it’s good to be extra careful when shipping all the really small pieces (like pins or screws). It’s best to transport them separately, e.g. in a Ziploc bag.

There is furniture (especially antiques) that mustn’t be dismantled and have to be transported in one piece. How to ship them safely? Chance that you have a box suitable to fit a dinner table is not high, but there are other ways to secure it for the shipping. When securing furniture for the time of shipment bubble wrap will be of significant value. Wrap all the delicate places and every corner in bubble foil to save your load from breaking if anything crashes into it during shipment. If you don’t have bubble wrap, you can try using cardboard to secure the corners.

If your furniture has some particularly delicate parts (like containing glass or delicate fabrics) you have to take extra care while transporting it. When you can, you should transport them separately, enclosed in thick layer of cloth or bubble wrap (every glass element should be shipped that way). If it’s a part of furniture that can’t be disassembled, enclose it in additional layers of bubble wrap. And remember to tell the hauler that he’s shipping delicate load.

As was mentioned above, most of the time you will need assistance with transporting furniture. When looking for a hauler it’s smart to find out whether he offers help with loading as well as unloading. Don’t forget to specify the floor they should be taken from and the floor they must b
