Tips for preparing for transportation

How to organize a removal?

Moving to a new apartment is among the most ordinary situations we can encounter in our life. And despite the fact we move averagely a few times in our lifetime, removals are still some of the most trying happenings possible. Just working out the logistics of moving everything you have between houses is quite a task and when you add packing, unpacking and selecting the best hauler to assist you with the move, it seems truly huge and quite nerve-wracking. Fortunately there are a few ways to make the move as efficient as can be as well as significantly less stressful.

Packing as well as securing your belongings for transportation

One crucial tip you should remember while preparing for the removal is that you need a clear plan that you will stick to through the whole process. It is best to make a list of every item you want transported. Such a list will not only help you pack but also will allow you to make sure that all of your things were safely shipped to your new home. Removal calls for shipping a big amount of stuff, among them a lot of little things that can be easily forgettable under the pressure of time – a list will ensure that you will remember to make sure they all made it to the place of destination safely. Another important step is labelling all the boxes as clearly as you can. One of the most helpful methods of tagging cardboards is by the room name. So all the kitchen accessories as well as appliances should be placed into cardboards labelled ‘kitchen’, all the pillows and jewellery in the box labelled ‘bedroom’ and so on. You’ll see how much time labelling can save once you start the unpacking. Don’t forget to tag both sides and the top of the box, so that you (as well as the transport provider) will be able to recognize which cardboard goes where, no matter how they will be placed in the transporting vehicle.

Take special care when preparing to transport delicate things. Enclose them in protective layers of fabric or bubble foil and then label them clearly (including a “This way up” label). You also need to make sure that the hauler is aware that he’ll be shipping fragile cargo and which cardboards have to be handled with care.

When it comes to furniture, it’s important to empty them prior to the removal as well as transport all the things inside separately. Any loose things in closets and cabinets can harm your furniture during transportation. It’s also good to secure all the furniture doors and drawers with some tape to make sure they won’t open during transportation. You may use ordinary Scotch tape for that. There is also a matter of loading the furniture inside the transporting vehicle. Ahead of attempting to move your furniture from the house, be certain that they will fit through the front doors, stairways and into the elevator (if your building has one). If they do, you can move them without disassembling (make sure that you have at least 1 person to assist you!). If they cannot, disassembling them is the sole method to move them safely. Be cautious with dismantling – make sure you store all the nails and screws gathered for example in a Ziploc bag as well as that you’ve secured delicate parts of the furniture properly. Disassembling furniture is also a good idea whenever you need to use the transporting vehicle to the maximum, because dismantled furniture will be much easier to stack efficiently.

Whenever packing minor things, like books, kitchen appliances, cosmetics etc., cardboards will be the smartest choice. It’s probable that you won’t have enough boxes to fit
