Tips for preparing for transportation

How to organize a removal?

Moving to a new house is one of the most ordinary happenings we can come across in our days. And despite the fact we move at least a few times before settling for good, removals are still among the most nerve-wracking situations that can happen to us. Just figuring out the logistics of shipping all your belongings from one place to another is an enormous job and with packing, unpacking and selecting the suitable company to help you with removal, it seems truly huge as well as very nerve-wracking. Luckily there are a few ways to make the move as efficient as can be as well as significantly less stressful.

Packing and securing your belongings for shipment

One crucial tip you have to remember while preparing for the removal is that you need a coherent plan that you will stick to through the whole process. It is good to create a list of all the things you need to transport. It will not only make the packing easier but also will allow you to make sure that all of your things were safely transported to its place of destination. Removal entails transporting a great deal of stuff, including a lot of small items that can be easily forgettable when packed in a hurry – an inventory will help you make sure they all made it to the place of destination safely. The next crucial step is labelling all the boxes as precisely as you can. One of the most helpful ways of tagging boxes is by the room name. So all the kitchen supplies and appliances should be placed into boxes tagged ‘kitchen’, all the duvets and blankets in the cardboards labelled ‘bedroom’ and so on. You’ll be surprised how time-saving tagging can be once you get to the unpacking part. Remember to label both sides and the top of the cardboard, to make sure that you (and the hauler) can be sure which box goes where, regardless of how they will be placed inside the transporting car.

Be extra careful with fragile items. Wrap them in protective layers of fabric as well as bubble wrap and then tag them in an easily visible place (including a “This way up” label). You should also make sure that the hauler knows that he’ll be transporting fragile load and which cardboards requires handling with caution.

When you want to transport furniture, it’s imperative to take everything out of them before the removal and transport all the things inside individually. Any unattached things in cupboards and drawers can damage your furniture during shipment. It’s also good to close all the furniture doors as well as drawers with some tape so that they cannot open during shipment. You may use regular Scotch tape to do that. Another issue is the matter of putting the furniture inside the transporting car. Ahead of attempting to move your furniture out of the house, make sure that they will fit through the front doors, stairways and into the elevator (if your building has one). If so, you can move them without dismantling (be sure to have at least 1 person to help you!). If they cannot, dismantling them is the only method to move them safely. Be cautious with that – be sure to store all the nails and bolts gathered like in a Ziploc bag as well as that you’ve secured all the parts of the furniture sufficiently. Disassembling furniture is also a good idea whenever you need to fill the transporting car to the maximum, as disassembled furniture will take a lot less place.

When packing minor things, like books, tableware, cosmetics etc., cardboards will be the most obvious choice. It’s probable that you will need more boxes than you have – but there is a couple of methods t
