Tips for preparing for transportation

How to organize a removal?

Moving to a new apartment is one of the most ordinary happenings we can come across in our life. And even though we change the place we live in averagely a few times in our lifetime, removals are still some of the most trying activities possible. Just figuring out the logistics of transporting all your belongings from one place to another is quite a task and with packing, unpacking as well as selecting the best company to assist you with the move, it seems really huge as well as very stressful. Luckily there are couple of things you can do to make the move as efficient as possible as well as significantly less stressful.

Packing as well as securing your belongings for the time of the removal

One crucial tip you should remember while packing is that you need a precise plan that you’ll have to abide by during the move. It is smart to create an inventory of every item you want shipped. Such a list will not only make the packing easier but also will allow you to check if all of your things were successfully transported to its place of destination. Removal entails transporting a great deal of stuff, including a big amount of small items that are easily forgettable under the pressure of time – a list will ensure that you will remember to check if they all made it to the place of destination safely. The next important step is labelling all the boxes as clearly as you can. One of the more useful ways of tagging cardboards is by category. So all the kitchen accessories and devices should be placed into boxes labelled ‘kitchen’, all the pillows and jewellery in the box tagged ‘bedroom’ and so on. You’ll quickly find out how much time labelling can save once you start the unpacking. Don’t forget to tag both sides and the top of the box, so that you (and the transport provider) will be able to recognize which box goes where, no matter how they will be placed inside the transporting car.

Take special care with fragile goods. Enclose them in protective layers of textiles and bubble wrap and then label them clearly (including a “This way up” label). You should also ensure that the hauler knows that he’ll be transporting fragile cargo as well as which boxes have to be handled with care.

When you want to transport furniture, it’s important to empty them prior to the removal as well as ship all the things inside individually. Any unattached items in closets and cabinets could damage your furniture during shipment. It’s also good to close all the furniture doors and drawers with some tape so that they won’t open on the road. You can use regular Scotch tape to do that. Another issue is the matter of loading the furniture inside the transporting car. Ahead of trying to move your furniture from the house, be certain that they will fit through the front doors, stairways or into the elevator (if your building has one). If so, you can transport them without disassembling (make sure that you have at least one person to help you!). If they cannot, disassembling them is the sole method to transport them without harm. Be careful with that – be sure to have all the pins and screws gathered like in a Ziploc bag and that you’ve secured delicate elements of the furniture sufficiently. Dismantling furniture is also convenient whenever you need to fill the transporting car to the maximum, because dismantled furniture will be much easier to stack efficiently.

Whenever packing minor items, such as books, tableware, decorations and so on, cardboards will be the most obvious choice. It’s probable that you won’t have enough boxes
