Motorcycles & Scooters

Motorbikes and mopeds are not only worth a lot, but also hard to protect while being shipped. However, it turns out that everything depends on the way we do it and how much prior experience with transport we have. It is possible to transport a motorbike or a moped without difficulties, no doubts about that. The way you will secure it depends on the method of transportation. Thanks to some helpful advice you could prevent any damages, and dents that may happen when a scooter or motorcycle is not properly secured.

When you are moving your motorcycle on a trailer you will need 4 strapping belts to strap it down. If you use a trailer which is dedicated for motorcycles or scooters, it already has been equipped with the rail that stabilises the motorcycle. In this situation you will need only two belts. It's important to use a closed hook at the ends of the belts, rather than an open one. The closed hook will not open up by accident during the transport.

It is also worth looking at the sharp edges or elements that may possibly tear up the belts and hinder your efforts. It's also possible to transport a motorcycle inside a van. The protection and equipment necessary to keep the motorbike resting safely in one place will not vary too much from other methods mentioned before. One thing worth considering is the installation of the side pads to protect the insides of the van and other objects that may accompany the motorbike.

There are also platforms that attached to a truck or van, can let you transport your motorcycle without occupying the whole space in the car.

Remember to check with the transport company if the equipment they provide will suffice to carry your motorcycle. For example, using a wooden platform for lifting your motorcycle and loading it in a truck could pose danger to people providing the service or pedestrians passing by, but could also cause substantial damage to your motorbike/motorcycle.

When putting an offer on Clicktrans you can get  a lot of great quotes from shipping companies registered on Clicktrans.

Many of these companies can organise the transport, so that they can use the full capacity of their vans. Thanks to that, shipment gets cheaper and more eco-friendly with less and less ”empty running”.
