Transporting a caravan

Transporting a caravan is often correlated with great deal of difficulties, but actually it is much less difficult than we realize. If you want to transport a caravan by yourself, don’t forget to make sure that your driving license allows you to do that.

Types of caravans

A Conventional caravan – as the name suggests, this is the most common kind of caravan. It has four strong walls and a full height rood. A conventional caravan might range in dimensions as well as in the amount of rooms, but in general it ensures pretty convenient travelling conditions. Conventional caravans come in 1 or 2 axles.

B Tent trailer – is a type of caravan that is a fine alternative if you want to decrease the costs. Tent trailer may be towed by most of the cars , moreover it often includes the most basic equipment, such as hot water and a fridge. It gives you considerable amount of living space however offers very little wind resistance.

3) Pop-top caravans -  this type is very much alike conventional caravans with the exception of a lifting roof, which can increase the living space. Pop-top caravans, similar to a tent trailer does not provide much wind resistance.

4) Pop-out caravans – this type of caravan has all the features of a pop-top caravan as well as extra expandable section on the foot and the head of the van, which is a convienient area to place extra beds, in case you need them. Pop-out caravans are the most popular among large families.

E Camper trailers – they offer not as much living space as most of the types described before, but because they provide with all the basic equipment (shower, hot water and so on) it is a comfortable and economical manner of travelling.

6) The fifth-wheeler – this is the largest kind of caravan. It provides with considerable amount of living space, which allows whole families to travel pleasantly. Due to its considerable size,  the fifth-wheeler must be towed by a larger vehicle instead of a regular car (for example a pickup truck).

Sometimes it is impossible to transport a caravan by yourself – it depends on whether you have right amount of time to travel required distance and whether the caravan itself is functional.

If you want to find a transport company to transport your caravan, confirm you know the exact dimensions of the caravan. Moreover make sure that its insurance hasn’t expired. Futhermore, warn the hauler about condition of the caravan – like whether brakes work properly.

When relying on a transport provider to transport your caravan you don’t need to worry about your driving license or crossing the borders  - all the regulations apply to the transport provider. Furthermore, transport companies frequently invest in product liability insurance, which ensures you a compensation, should anything happens with the caravan during shipment.

Price of transporting a caravan

Price of moving a caravan depends on its dimensions and weight (as it is with almost every type of cargo}. Additionally, the cost is also defined by the condition of the vehicle – if it is able to drive on its own, you are likely to pay less.
