Transporting a caravan

Transporting a caravan is frequently correlated with a lot of difficulties, but in fact it is much less difficult than we realize. If you want to transport a caravan on your own, remember to make sure that your driving license enables you to do it.

Kinds of caravans

1) Conventional caravan – as the name suggests, this is the most usual kind of caravan. It has 4 solid walls as well as a full height rood. It can range in length and in the amount of rooms, yet in most cases it ensures quite comfortable travelling environment. Conventional caravans may have 1 or two axles.

2) Tent trailer – is a type of caravan that is a fine alternative in case you want to decrease the costs. It can be towed by most of the cars , moreover it usually contains the most basic equipment, like shower or a fridge. It gives you considerable amount of living space however offers much less wind resistance than a conventional caravan.

3) Pop-top caravans -  this kind is similar to conventional caravans with the exception of a expendable roof, that can expand the living space. Pop-top caravans, similar to a tent trailer provides very little wind resistance.

D Pop-out caravans – this kind of caravan has all the advantages of a pop-top caravan and added pop-out area on the foot and the head of the vehicle, which creates a perfect spot to fit extra beds, in case you are in need of them. Pop-out caravans are especially popular among big families.

5) Camper trailers – they offer not as much living space as most of the types mentioned before, but because of all the basic equipment (shower, fridge and so on) camper trailers are considered to be a comfortable as well as economical manner of travelling.

F The fifth-wheeler – this is the largest kind of caravan. It provides with considerable amount of living space, which allows whole families to travel in comfort. Because of its considerable size,  the fifth-wheeler must be towed by a larger vehicle instead of a regular car (for example a pickup truck).

Sometimes it is impossible to transport a caravan by yourself – it hinges on whether you have right amount of time to cover necessary route and whether the caravan itself is capable of covering the distance.

If you choose to find a transport company to move your caravan, make sure you have the exact dimensions of the caravan. Also confirm that its insurance hasn’t expired. In addition, instruct the transport provider about condition of the caravan – like whether lights work properly.

When hiring a transport provider to ship your caravan you don’t need to worry about your driving license or crossing the borders  - all the regulations concern the transport provider. Furthermore, transport companies frequently have product liability insurance, which ensures you a compensation, if any damage is done to the caravan on the road.

Price of shipping a caravan

Cost of transporting a caravan depends on its dimensions and weight (similar to almost every type of loads}. Other than that , the price is also affected by the state of the vehicle – if it is fully functional, you will likely pay less.
