Transporting a caravan

Moving a caravan is frequently associated with great deal of problems, but in fact it is much less difficult than we realize. If you want to transport a caravan by yourself, remember to make sure that your driving license enables you to do that.

Types of caravans

A Conventional caravan – as can be deduced from the name, this is the most usual type of caravan. This type has 4 solid walls and a full height rood. It can range in length as well as in the amount of rooms, but in general it ensures pretty comfortable travelling environment. Conventional caravans may have 1 or 2 axles.

2) Tent trailer – this type of caravan is a good alternative in case you need to lower the costs. It may be towed by almost any car and usually includes most of the elementary equipment, such as hot water and a fridge. Tent trailer gives you considerable amount of living space however offers much less wind resistance than a conventional caravan.

3) Pop-top caravans -  this kind is very much alike conventional caravans with the exception of a lifting roof, which can expand the living space. Pop-top caravans, much like a tent trailer provides very little wind resistance.

D Pop-out caravans – this type of caravan has all the features of a pop-top caravan as well as added expandable section on the ends of the van, which is a convienient spot to place extra beds, in case you need them. Pop-out caravans are especially popular among large families.

E Camper trailers – they offer not as much living space as most of the types described before, but because of all the basic equipment (shower, hot water and so on) it is a convenient and affordable manner of travelling.

F The fifth-wheeler – this is the biggest kind of caravan. It provides with considerable amount of living space, so that whole families can travel pleasantly. Due to its large size,  the fifth-wheeler must be towed by a larger vehicle instead of a regular car (for example a pickup truck).

It is not always possible to transport a caravan on your own – such decision depends on whether you have enough time to travel necessary route and whether the caravan itself is functional.

If you want to find a transport company to move your caravan, confirm you give them the exact measurements of the caravan. Moreover check if its insurance hasn’t expired. Moreover, warn the transport provider about state of the caravan – for example whether brakes work properly.

When hiring a transport provider to ship your caravan you don’t need to worry about your driving license or speed limits  - all the regulations apply to the transport provider. Furthermore, shipping providers often invest in product liability insurance, which will ensure you a compensation, should any damage is done to the caravan during shipment.

Price of moving a caravan

Price of moving a caravan hinges on its dimensions and weight (similar tomost types of loads}. Additionally, the cost is also defined by the state of the caravan – if it is fully functional, you are likely to pay less.
