Transporting a caravan

Transporting a caravan is often correlated with great deal of problems, but in fact it is much less complex than it seems. If you plan on transporting a caravan by yourself, remember to check if your driving license allows you to do it.

Types of caravans

1) Conventional caravan – as can be deduced from the name, this is the most common kind of caravan. It has four strong walls as well as a full height rood. A conventional caravan might differ in length as well as in the amount of rooms, still in general it provides quite satisfying travelling environment. Conventional caravans may have 1 or two axles.

B Tent trailer – this type of caravan is a good alternative if you might want to decrease the costs. It may be towed by most of the cars and often contains most of the elementary equipment, such as hot water and a fridge. Tent trailer provide you large amount of living space however offers much less wind resistance than a conventional caravan.

3) Pop-top caravans -  this kind is similar to conventional caravans with the addition of a lifting roof, that helps to increase the living space. Pop-top caravans, much like a tent trailer provides very little wind resistance.

D Pop-out caravans – this kind of caravan is equipped with all the advantages of a pop-top caravan as well as additional expandable section on the foot and the head of the vehicle, which creates a convienient area to place additional beds, should you need them. Pop-out caravans are especially favored by large families.

5) Camper trailers – they offer not as much living space as most of the types mentioned before, but thanks to having the most needed basic equipment (shower, hot water and so on) it is a comfortable as well as budget way of travelling.

6) The fifth-wheeler – this is the biggest type of caravan. It provides with considerable amount of living space, so that whole families can travel pleasantly. Due to its considerable size,  the fifth-wheeler requires a larger vehicle to tow it (for example a pickup truck).

Sometimes it is impossible to ship a caravan by yourself – such decision depends on whether you have enough time to travel needed distance and whether the caravan itself is capable of travelling such distance.

If you want to find a shipping provider to move your caravan, verify if you give them the specific dimensions of the caravan. Moreover confirm that its insurance is up-to-date. Moreover, instruct the hauler about state of the caravan – for example whether brakes work properly.

When hiring a transport provider to ship your caravan you do not need to worry about your driving license or crossing the borders  - all the regulations concern the transport provider. Furthermore, transport companies often have product liability insurance, which will ensure you a compensation, should anything happens with the caravan during transportation.

Price of shipping a caravan

Cost of transporting a caravan depends on its dimensions and weight (similar to almost every type of loads}. Other than that , the price is also affected by the condition of the vehicle – if it is fully functional, you will likely get cheaper price.
