Less Than Truckload

Less than Truckload (LTL) represents a good form of transportation of a small commodity which does not need a big surface and may be often placed on pallets. This method takes advantage of unused space in the car by putting together more than one independent freightages. This kind of shipment is economical as principals have an opportunity to distribute the transportation costs with other people who also are willing to use some part of the cargo space available in the car. LTL shipments commonly weigh between 151 and 20,000 lb.

Cars that are used in the LTL have a weight of more than 3.5 t and are required to be in accordance with the arrangements set in a particular country. There are many versions of trucks which are appropriate to be used in the LTL shipping, but they have to be always adequately adjusted to the kind of the commodity which will be shipped.

The price of the shipment is subject to several factors. First of all, size and mass of the product. The person who order a shipment should also provide a carrier an information about the way the product is packed. It is also worth mentioning what you expect to be covered by the service – is it just the transport or does it also cover loading and unloading.

Assuming that you realise that space available via the LTL is not enough to ship your product, you could decide to use its alternative – full truck load (FTL).
