Motorcycles & Scooters

Motorcycles and scooters are not only valuable, but also not easy to secure when shipped. Although, it turns out that everything depends on how we do it and how much previous experience with transport we gained. It is feasible to ship a motorcycle or a moped without troubles, no doubts about that. The way it will be secured depends on the mean of shipment. Owing to some useful advice you could prevent any scratches, and dents that often happen when a moped or motorcycle is not properly secured.

When you are moving the motorcycle using a trailer you will need four strapping belts to strap it down. If you use a trailer specially dedicated for motorcycles or scooters, it already has been equipped with the rail that stabilises the motorbike. In this situation you will need only 2 strapping belts. It is neccessary to use a closed hook at the ends of the belts, rather than an open one. The closed one will not open up accidentaly during the shipment.

It is also worth looking at the sharp edges or objects that may possibly cut the belts and make the safe transport impossible. It's also possible to transport a motorbike inside a van. The protection and equipment needed to keep the motorbike mounted safely in one place will not differ too much from other ways mentioned before. One thing worth considering is installing the side pads to protect the insides of the car and other objects that may be transported just next to the motorcycle.

There are also platforms that hooked to a car or another vehicle, can help you transport your motorbike not occupying the whole space in the truck.

Do not forget to check with the transport company if the equipment they provide will be sufficient to transport your motorbike. For example, using a wooden platform for lifting your motorcycle and loading it in a van could be dangerous to people providing the service or pedestrians passing by, but could also cause substantial damage to your motorbike/motorcycle.

When posting your request on Clicktrans you will receive  multiple great quotes from transport providers registered on Clicktrans.

Many of these companies can arrange the transport, so that they can utilise the full capacity of their cars. Thanks to that, the service gets cheaper and more eco-friendly with decreasing number of ”empty running”.
