Transporting a caravan

Transporting a caravan is frequently correlated with a lot of problems, but in fact it is much less complex than we realize. If you plan on transporting a caravan on your own, remember to make sure that your driving license enables you to do it.

Kinds of caravans

1) Conventional caravan – as the name suggests, this is the most common type of caravan. It has 4 sturdy walls as well as a full height rood. A conventional caravan can range in dimensions as well as in the amount of rooms, yet in general it ensures quite convenient travelling environment. Conventional caravans may have 1 or 2 axles.

2) Tent trailer – this type of caravan is a fine choice in case you need to lower the costs. It can be towed by nearly every car , moreover it usually includes most of the elementary equipment, such as shower and a fridge. Tent trailer provide you large living space but offers very little wind resistance.

C Pop-top caravans -  this kind is very much alike conventional caravans with the exception of a expendable roof, which can increase the living space. Pop-top caravans, much like a tent trailer does not provide much wind resistance.

D Pop-out caravans – this kind of caravan has all the advantages of a pop-top caravan and extra expandable area on the ends of the vehicle, which creates a convienient area to fit extra beds, in case you are in need of them. Pop-out caravans are the most popular among big families.

5) Camper trailers – this type of caravan offers not as much living space as the types mentioned before, but because they provide with all the basic equipment (shower, hot water and so on) it is a convenient as well as economical manner of travelling.

F The fifth-wheeler – this is the largest kind of caravan. It provides with very big amount of living space, so that whole families can travel pleasantly. Because of its considerable size,  the fifth-wheeler must be towed by a larger vehicle instead of a regular car (e. g. a pickup truck).

It is not always possible to ship a caravan on your own – such decision hinges on whether you have enough time to cover needed route and whether the caravan itself is working.

In case you decide to hire a shipping company to transport your caravan, check if you know the exact dimensions of the caravan. Also confirm that its insurance is up-to-date. Moreover, warn the hauler about condition of the caravan – like whether lights are fully functional.

When relying on a transport provider to move your caravan you don’t need to think about your driving license or speed limits  - all the procedures apply to the transport provider. Furthermore, transport companies often have product liability insurance, which ensures you a compensation, if any damage is done to the caravan during shipment.

Price of shipping a caravan

Cost of moving a caravan hinges on its dimensions and weight (as it is withmost types of loads}. Additionally, the cost is also defined by the state of the caravan – if it is undamaged, you are likely to get cheaper price.
