Less Than Truckload

Less than Truckload (LTL) represents a practical way of transport of a small cargo which does not demand a lot of space and is often placed on pallets. LTL takes advantage of unused space in the truck by putting together a few autonomous freightages. LTL is economical because companies have an opportunity to share the transportation costs with the others who also need to take a bit of the area available in the car. LTL shipments typically weigh between 151 and 20,000 lb.

Trucks which are used in the LTL have a weight of more than 3.5 t and need to be in accordance with the rules being in force in a particular country. There are different types of vehicles which may be part of the LTL shipping, but they have to be always correctly tailored to the kind of the commodity which will be dispatched.

The financial aspect of the transporting depends on a few factors. First of all, height and width and mass of the object. The person who order a shipment ought to also provide a transporter data about the packaging. You should also mention what you hope to be covered by the service – is it only the transportation or does it also encompass loading and unloading.

In case that it turns out that the cargo space available via the less than truckload is not enough to dispatch your object, you should use its alternative – full truck load (FTL).
