Glassware

When moving glass, one of the crucial things to think about is securing the cargo safely. When transporting fragile goods simple cardboard box will not be enough. You must fill the space between your load and walls of the box with materials that will block movement of the glass throughout transport. Good way to ensure that is to use Styrofoam or soft materials that will stop potential tremors and therefore save your glassware from shattering. Furthermore you could cover your load in bubble wrap, especially all the elements that are thin and prone to damage. Secure the bubble foil with adhesive tape just to be certain it will not loosen during shipment. After wrapping, you need to pack all of the gaps in the container – with Styrofoam or even pieces of cardboard.

If you have to transport big elements of glassware (like mirrors or window glass) you need to not only protect it from breaking, but also from fracturing. You could wrap the glass in substantial sheet of bubble wrap, secure it with adhesive tape and place it in a cardboard box. Remember to write on top of the container that it is fragile. You could also use pre-made labels for delicate packages.

Smaller glassware (like glasses or bottles} can be secured by old newspapers, paper or even towels. Next step is to put them in a box so that they will not touch while shipped. The same way you can secure porcelain and crystals. When shipping bigger glassware items (like chandeliers) it is good to add an extra layer of soft materials, e.g. sponge or clothes.

Price of glassware shipment is determined by weight and dimensions of the cargo, route lenght and delivery days. Additional price-defining factor is whether or not you require using professional packing materials and assistance securing the load.
