Glassware

When it comes to moving glassware, the hardest part is securing the cargo before shipment. When transporting fragile goods simple cardboard box will not do. You have to fill the gaps between your load and walls of the container with substances that can block any jolting of the glass during shipment. One of the ways to do that is to fill the package with Styrofoam or spongy materials that will block potential jolting and save your fragile load from breaking. Additionally you should cover your cargo in bubble wrap, especially all the parts that are fine and extra fragile. Close the bubble foil with Scotch tape just to be sure it will not unfold during shipment. When you are done covering, you need to fil all of the empty space left in the container – with Styrofoam or even newspapers.

If you need to ship big elements of glassware (like mirrors or window glass) you ought to not only secure it from breaking, but also from fracturing. You could wrap the glassware in thick sheet of bubble wrap, tie it with adhesive tape and put it in a container. Remember to write on top of the package that the package should be handled with care. You could also use pre-made stickers for fragile packages.

Small glassware (like goblets or bottles} can be secured by old newspapers, paper or even clothes. Next step is to put them in a container so that they won't knock against each other while shipped. In similar manner you can secure porcelain and crystals. When transporting bigger glassware products (like chandeliers) it is best to add an extra layer of soft materials, e.g. sponge or clothes.

Price of glass shipment is determined by weight and dimensions of the cargo, distance and delivery days. Other price-defining factor is whether or not you want to use professional packing materials and help securing the load.
