Glassware

When it comes to transporting glassware, one of the most important things to think about is securing the cargo before shipment. When transporting fragile goods simple package will not be sufficient. You need to fill the gaps between your load and walls of the container with materials that can stop movement of the glass during transport. Good way to do that is to fill the package with Styrofoam or spongy materials that will stop possible tremors and protect your glassware from breaking. Furthermore you need to cover your glassware with bubble wrap, particularly all the parts that are thin and prone to damage. Tie the bubble wrap with Scotch tape just to be sure the bubble wrap won’t loosen during transport. When you are done wrapping, you should fil all of the gaps in the box – with Styrofoam or even newspapers.

If you need to ship big elements of glassware (like mirrors or glass shelves) you ought to not only protect it from shattering, but also from scratching. You need to wrap the glass in substantial sheet of bubble foil, secure it with Scotch tape and put it in a container. Remember to write on top of the package that the container should be handled with care. You may also use pre-made stickers for delicate cargo.

Smaller glassware (like goblets or bottles} could be secured by old newspapers, paper or even clothes. Next step is to deposit them in a container so that they will not knock against each other while transported. In similar manner you can package porcelain and crystals. When transporting large glassware elements (like chandeliers) it is good to use an extra layer of soft materials, e.g. sponge or towels.

Price of glassware transport varies depending on weight and dimensions of the load, distance as well as delivery dates. Other price-defining factor is whether or not you want to use professional packing materials as well as help securing the cargo.
