Less Than Truckload

Less than Truckload (LTL) is a practical mode of delivery of a small commodity that does not demand a big surface and can be very often transported on pallets. It benefits extra area in the car by putting together more than one autonomous freightages. This method is cost-effective as businesses may distribute the transportation costs with other people that also need to take a share of the surface available in the truck. LTL shipments ordinarily have a weight of between 151 and 20,000 pounds.

Trucks which are used in the LTL weigh more than 3.5 tons and must be compatible with the specifications established in one country. There are many types of vehicles that may serve in the LTL shipping, but they must be always properly suited to the size of the cargos that will be shipped.

The price of the shipment may vary depending on several features. First of all, magnitude and weight of the object. The person who order a shipment should also give a delivery man data about the packaging. You should also mention what you expect to be covered by the service – is it no more than the transportation or does it also cover loading and unloading.

Whenever you realise that volume available via the LTL does not meet your requirements to dispatch your object, you may want to make use of another option – full truck load (FTL).
