Transporting a caravan

Moving a caravan is often correlated with great deal of problems, but actually it is much easier than we realize. If you want to transport a caravan by yourself, don’t forget to check if your driving license enables you to do that.

Types of caravans

A Conventional caravan – as the name suggests, this is the most common kind of caravan. This type has four sturdy walls and a full height rood. A conventional caravan can vary in length and in the number of rooms, still generally it ensures pretty pleasant travelling environment. Conventional caravans may have one or two axles.

2) Tent trailer – this type of caravan is a good choice if you want to lower the costs. Tent trailer may be towed by nearly every car , moreover it often includes most of the elementary equipment, such as hot water or a fridge. It gives you considerable amount of living space however offers very little wind resistance.

C Pop-top caravans -  they are very much alike conventional caravans with the addition of a expendable roof, that can expand the living space. Pop-top caravans, similar to a tent trailer does not offer much wind resistance.

4) Pop-out caravans – this type of caravan is equipped with all the features of a pop-top caravan as well as added expandable section on the ends of the van, which is a perfect area to place additional beds, in case you are in need of them. Pop-out caravans are the most popular among big families.

E Camper trailers – this type of caravan offers less living space than most of the types mentioned before, but because of the most needed elementary equipment (shower, hot water and so on) it is a convenient and budget way of travelling.

F The fifth-wheeler – this is the largest type of caravan. It offers very big amount of living space, which allows whole families to travel pleasantly. Due to its considerable size,  the fifth-wheeler must be towed by a larger vehicle instead of a regular car (like a pickup truck).

It is not always possible to transport a caravan on your own – it hinges on whether you have right amount of time to cover required route and whether the caravan itself is functional.

If you decide to find a transport company to move your caravan, confirm you know the specific measurements of the caravan. Also confirm that its insurance hasn’t expired. Moreover, instruct the transport provider about condition of the caravan – e.g. whether lights are fully functional.

When hiring a transport provider to transport your caravan you don’t need to think about your driving license or speed limits  - all the rules concern the transport provider. Moreover, shipping companies frequently have product liability insurance, which will ensure you a compensation, if any damage is done to the caravan during transportation.

Price of shipping a caravan

Cost of shipping a caravan hinges on its dimensions and weight (as it is withmost types of cargo}. Additionally, the cost is also affected by the condition of the vehicle – if it is undamaged, you are likely to get cheaper price.
